Clicking while braking

Only under braking there is a clicking noise, sounds to be metallic coming from my front left. I've had the car for about a month its been doing it, i just thought it was the rotors. I replaced the rotors and the sound continued. It was really bad at one point got better now it appears to be the quietest its been (only change is the ambient temp, temp down noise up).

My set up is ferodo ds2500 pads (which seemed fine when swapping the rotors) new DBA 5000 slotted, ss lines, gt works springs, bilstien hd struts, and 17x8.5 rpf1s.

So far i've been told it could be the axel, hub, or loose lug. Thanks!

Smear a little mutipurpose axle grease on the brake pad contact points and remount. Also, check that the holddown spring hasn't gotten bent and lost its tension.

Thanks for the input. I apply the grease as if im installing new pads? Also, could you elaborate more on the spring? I'm not even sure what that is.

Fixed caliper brakes tend to be noisy if not properly assembled. I recommend the stock metal shim especially in problem cases. Anyway, per the factory service manual, grease is applied to the contact edges of the pad and to the back of the shim. I recommend a thin layer between the pad and shim if separate.

You should think that a brake is a very dirty place for grease to survive but that seems to be the secret, grease plus road dirt and brake dust turns into a heavy paste or glue that quiets the brakes.

The spring is under the two pins that anchor the pads in place.
