Grinding while braking???

Just got back from playing with the snow for the first time. While I was braking, the car sounded like it's grinding and it wants to stall sometime. I have no problem shifting through all the gear, so it can't be the transmission or could it be. I only tried launching a few time that's it. The grinding sounded like it's coming from around the downpipe area. I had a piece of wood stuck down by the downpipe and the sway bar once. I inspected the area and found nothing but to pull that piece of wood out. This is the first time that it happen so I'm .... Scare

Do you have any rust spots on the rotors? Check for rocks stuck between the rotors and calipers. If it sat for a while before you drove it after the snow sometimes a little rust will build up and it sounds weird for a couple of stops but it sounds like yours happens all the time. Sorry know knowledge about the trans or diffs.

Now I see were you braking in the snow like the previous post said. If so 99% sure it was the ABS

For real, I thought I landed on a piece of broken branch from the tree or something.
