Why do some people hide their mods?
Help me understand this obsession some people have with keeping their engine bay looking stock and hiding their mods.
I don't get the impression that it's for warranty work, and most
mechanics are going to spot aftermarket stuff anyway when they start digging around. They/y'all seem to be proud of it and like to "show off" the engine bay, but how often do you really hear someone say that a stock engine bay looks good?

I don't necessarily hide any mods, but I prefer my car to look 100% stock. I don't like to attract a lot of attention and have people EXPECT me to be fast. I prefer people to briefly glance, then move on unimpressed...followed by a 12.000 on the scoreboard from the "stock" appearing Evo.

well alot of people i know do it so others don't know what they are running when they race for money...i.e. a guy i know has alot more power than he says he does, and you can't tell because some of his mods are hidden, when it comes down to racing for green, people will hide everything they can lol.

I like to keep my car look as stealth as possible, but its true, I have a yellow evo with MR wheels, which is hard to convince eople as being stock...
But at least I can say the exhaust sounds stock...
