Yeah, I suppose. But I don't remember any of my friends being influenced to buy the car they have based on what they've seen in that game and previous versions.

The Skyline wasn't in any american movies (Well.....it was in 2f2f but only for 5 minutes, and there was one in the first f&f). It wasn't the "hero" car though.

Still, look at the cult following of the skyline. I personally didn't know what an Evo was until I got a ride in my buddies STI....I was thinking of getting an SRT-4 at the time and he told me about the evo, that's when I realized it was the car from 2f2f as well....

I guess I'm a poser.

I don't get the impression that it's for warranty work, and most mechanics are going to spot aftermarket stuff anyway when they start digging around. They/y'all seem to be proud of it and like to "show off" the engine bay, but how often do you really hear someone say that a stock engine bay looks good?
it is my opinion that the only reason go to some effort to make their car sustain the "stock" look is due to the fact that people like their cars to look "clean" even where they have tons of mods, and it works if you ask me

I don't like being too flashy, I like the clean look. But to each, his own, right?

I dont mean to sound rude at all but in all honesty, my mods are my own damn business. Back in the day it was all about keeping your mods on the DL. People didnt just go around talking and showing off what they had specially if there was a possibility of race, you run what you brung and thats it.

"what mods do you have?" intake, bov and a muffler" ...i respond
"how much u boosting?" 10psi
"is that turbo?" no! ...supercharged
"can i drive it?" probably could, but i wont let u

...makes it more interesting...u guys should try it...

In California the Police ask to see under the hood. If they see noticeable modifications they issue fix it tickets.

OK I'll take this to another level...

Evo RS (no wing)
RS*R ExMag exhaust (nearly as quiet as stock)
3" Magnaflow HFC (looks just like stock)
K&N drop-in filter
EcuTek flash and dyno tune
JDM MR BOV (I do miss a litle not having a psshhhhhhhh maker)

I've also kept the ugly stock speaker covers (remember the RS comes without speakers) despite JBL's upfront and Infiniti Kappas in the back. I have a 60GB hard drive under the passenger seat with all of my MP3's piped into my head unit as an auxilory input. Even the Defi boost gauge on the steering column looks OEM-ish.

For some people there's an appeal to owning a "wolf in sheep's clothing". To the boy racers and local law enforcement, I might as well be a Lancer ES. And in sunny California where every motorcycle cop thinks he's "Panch" from the TV series CHiPs and he's gonna show you the path to righteousness...well you don't wanna stick out. Some of these CHP guys are truly tools...19, 20 and 21 year olds on power trips just waiting for you to challenger their authority. I'm a white guy who spends my days in a suit and tie, so I'm not exactly their poster child for modifications violations. Just the same I've been pulled over before for totally random reasons. It happens. When it does just ask yourself: Do you wanna be the guy with the powder coated intake, JDM exhaust, big spoiler, aftermarket valve covers and an a-pillar gauge pod cluster...or do you want to be just another base model Lancer econobox. Fast is how the car drives, not how it looks. To each his own.

1. cops, here in cali, if you get popped, it sucks. going to the smog ref sucks BIG TIME

2. stealth, i claim its all stock then laugh when i make money off of some chump who took my word for. plus, if it looks stock there is less of a chance for someone to break into it to steal my crap

I do it for more of the sleeper look, everything I install on my car in the engine bay is stripped of its shiny bling and painted black. All silicone are done in black as well. I just like the clean look of it.

I don't hide my mods, but the mods I do have are not very apparent. I plan on continuing to add mods that return great performance on a budget and most will not be very noticeable. I get a number of people who come to check out my car after running low 12 second passes and are completely shocked to see only a couple of bolt-ons. Another bonus is that it definitely exemplifies my driving too
