From what ive read the ferodo ds2500's are a great street/light track pad. Ive heard just way too many squeeling hawk stories that I think Im going to stay away. My brake upgrade will consists of 2piece rotors (PFC, or the stoptechs if they come out) with ds2500's.

The Hawk HPS or Ferodo 2500s are good dd pads. If you use grease on the backs and edges, you should not have any squeeling issues. (Ive had both of these on my car) There should not be any reason to change out rotors if you are not tracking your car, I still have my stockers after 65k miles and several track days...

a lot of reviews from tirerack.com say that the Hawks make a lot of noise.

+1

if you're not even hitting track regularly, I don't think there is a reason to be putting that kind of money in rotors. You'd be better off spending that money elsewhere. And as TxEvo8 said, even with light tracking, unless you charge that corner and slam the ABS before entering a curve (and I mean make the rotors glow ) then you're fine. The biggest advantages of upgraded rotors is aerodynamics (cooling) and surface area. Doesn't sound like you need them. As for pads... I'd go with the Ferodo, I know it's already been said that you don't necessarily have to get the squeals out of the Hawks, but I wouldn't chance it either. There has been way too many anti Hawks complaints.

If you are only doing some regular daily driving and occassional spirited runs there is no need for Ferodo DS2500s. You are probably better off with Hawk HPS or Carbotech Bobcats. You'll save yourself some money in the process. You could also save yourself a lot of money buying cheaper 1 piece slotted rotors as you do not track your car. Just make sure you re-use the shims and bed in your brakes to avoid any squeeling.
