Wheel offset/spacer opinion needed.

Alright I am considering to buy my friends rims off of his STI, he said his offset is +42, and i believe evo max is +38 They are 17x7 basically same as stock just larger offset. What i am wanting to know is if i could get away with out a spacer or which size spacer i would end up needing to get and if i need longer studs.

His rims are
Volk Racing LE28n's
17x7 +42
Tires 235/45/17

And i was considering getting Tein s-tech also

My opinion is don't buy them. At that offset they likely won't clear the caliper and they are more narrow than stock (which is 17x8) If you absolutely have your heart set on them you'll need an 8mm spacer or so and extended studs. I assume that his STi is an 05+? If not they are the wrong bolt pattern anyway.

Good idea to skip it. It would have been a rig at best, and the end result would be a rim that is too narrow anyway. Stock is 17x8

By the way, you would have needed a minimum 17mm spacer just to make it sit in the same place as the stock wheels. (13mm for 1/2 of the 1" width difference and 4mm for the offset difference)
