What advantage is inverted struts?

As per title just wondering what advantage there is with having inverted struts.
I was looking at the new BC Racing coil overs but I was told the damper adjustment is on the bottom making it more awkward to adjust.

resist side loading better than conventional struts. That is a good thing in the twisties.

Inverted

Less un-sprung weight. The rod of an upside down strut is lighter than the body.

So they fix the heavy body to the car and hook the lighter rod to the suspension.

Less weight means better suspension response.

Same reason that bikes do it, and I agree that in a bike they take side loads better, but with car suspension side loads are carried elsewhere.

I have the BC racing spec coils and I love them.... adjusting the fronts is easy - I just turn the wheel all the way then reach my arm in and adjust... don't even need to open the hood.

I've done a couple track days and they really worked well. I also got the whiteline front roll center kit. I highly recommend you get this.

I had the shop setup my suspension so that the front arms were level (after the whiteline kit was installed) and that gave me a little under 2 degrees of camber up front which worked well.

I got a ride in another evo with coilovers who didn't have the roll center kit and his car push a lot more in the turns and just didn't respond as well.

if anything my car is very neutral and while it resist understeer it won't oversteer either. looks like my next mod is a sway bar since i already tried adjusting the back higher then the front and it didn't improve enough.

hope this helps.

Inverted struts also mean there are no dust boots so stuff gets stuck to the inverted shock walls, wears the inverted shock faster and eventually causes suspension noise and accelerated wear from dirt grinding on the inverted shock. Inverted shocks need to be cleaned regularly. If you read the Tein Mono Flex instruction manual it says so.
