rear fender rolling for 285s

I'm in the process of installing coilovers and 18x9.5 FN01RCs with 285 30 18 V710s and, while my rear fenders are rolled, with the car lowered 1.5" it looks like there is not enough clearance in the rear due mostly to the area where the bumper bolts to the rear quarter. I've read on here that EVOlutionary ground down that tab and "moved it" back a couple inches.

How many others running this sort of combo done more than just roll the fender lip in the rear? I'm thinking that I'm going to have to raise up the rear to avoid this issue, which will mean raising up the front to keep the same rake, which means that the car will really be only 3/4" or so lower than stock

If I really need to deal with that mounting tab back there then I guess I'll need to take it to a body shop because that doesn't seem like something that I would feel comfortable grinding/cutting myself. I own a fender roller and that's about as far as I feel comfortable as far as body work.

Thanks for any suggestions. It's going to be tight getting this all together for my next event on Saturday!

It fits with just rolling Rich. My car is lowered around the same. Your static camber may affect the fit. Also remember the rear gains camber and loses track width when you get into extreme bump. Both of those factors will help. You can also try running the wheel through it's travel w/no spring (or shock for that matter) to check tire clearance.

Trust me if I can get 285/30 A6's to fit with the same set up, V710's will fit.

Thanks. I did that on the front last night (removed the spring to check clearance). I'm just getting lazy and tired of futzing with the coilovers, but tonight I guess I'll do the same to check the rear clearance.

Curious to know the offsets you are using and rough camber numbers.

I have no issues with rubbing in the rear with just rolling and I'm pretty low. I run 285 Hoosiers which have a .5" bigger section width also. For rear camber I run around -1.5 and my wheel offset is +36.

I ran a 285/ 645 /18 Pirelli slick and cut the tire down so bad it might be ruined. each tire is different.

I might cut my rear fenders.

I know it becomes a pain, but once it's done, it's done.

You can easily pull the entire rear damper assy and put the wheel on. The damper itself doesn't do any locating on the rear.

Of course! I didn't realize that, but you're right. You just saved me a ton of time. Thanks again!

I have the same problem with the bolt that holds the bumper to the rear. I rolled my fenders, and grinded the edge that forms when rolled upper lip makes a transition to horizontal position right above the bumper. After I did that I noticed that I am hitting the bolt which holds the bumper.. I was thinking about shaving that sucker as well and make 2 small holes and put bolts to hold the bumper with the body.

Its either that, or put harder springs, raise it a little, and maybe increase the camber. My wheels are 17x9.5 Advans RG2 +25 , with 255x40x17 NTO1s ...
