suspension pro's chime in please.

I really need some input /suggestions here:

My car has a pretty strong pull to the right at the moment.
I've had this pull ever since I had the coilovers installed.
At first, it was a slight pull but it's has gotton worse as time went by.
BTW, I had the coilovers for about 1.5month.

Spring preload and ride height are all equal to left and right.
Had the car aligned by 3-4 different times and it's still pulls to the right.
It's not the tires because I put another set of rims/tires and it still pull to the right-
with the steering wheel centered.

Guys this is driving me nuts!!!
When I wanna go straight on a level surface, I have to turn the steering wheel
to the 11 O'clock position in order to track the car straight.
BTW, it seems like the car wanders a bit at high speeds.

Sorry for the long post but any help is really appreciated.

I just put in coilovers. I had the same problem. I took it to a couple alignment shops. It turns out that your standard alignment shop isn't that good. I figured out that one of the shop's machines was out of calibration. Another shop I think just had a really inexperienced worker doing the alignment. Bad stuff.

I took my car to a local BMW race shop, which is what I should have done first. I had them do a race alignment and corner weighting - car is straight as an arrow now. Find a better shop!!!! Good luck!!

The car has been taken to a local alignment place the first two times and the steering was off.
Third time, I drove an hour and took it to a very reputable shop (they work on porsche's and ferraries too) and the tech told me the alignment wasnt bad to cause that much of a pull.

The car is not corner balanced because I got called in to work the day I had the appointment but the heights are all even as best I can do.

My last resort is to take it to a frame shop and have them measure the chassis...but I want this to be my last resort and I don't even know how much
this is gonna cost.

This is getting very frustrating...

Do you have the printout of your last alignment (I would hope so considering your issues...)?

If so, post up the #s.

I dont have a scanner ...but here it is:

Front camber -1.5 both sides.
Caster left 2.7 right 2.9
Front toe 0
SAI left 14.6 right 14.3
Included angle left 13.1 right 13.0

Rear camber -.9 both sides
Rear toe left .06 right .10 <--- I really don't think this diff cause that much of a pull.
Thrust angle -.02

To me these settings look very good.
Thanks for your help/suggestions guys.

This is what the car does for example:
On the highway, if I center the steering whee the car will go to the right lane within 2 seconds.

Again, any help/suggestion would be appreciated.

I just had an alignment done as well. They told me one side my caster is a bit low at 3.1...manufacturer specs are 3.4 to 4.4. He said the caster is not adjustable, its in the steering rack (I think thats what he said) and thats what causes the car to track differently. My pull to the right was fixed though, its pretty much back to normal. I also have the same toe as you do in the rear, so its not that. Mine is .09 left .13 right.

The steering wheel has not been re-aligned probably. Most likely they didn't brace the steering wheel when they set your front alignment, resulting in the steering wheel being turned while the tires are pointed straight ahead.

If you are going straight, and let go of the steering wheel, does the car veer right? This is different than the steering wheel just being off-center.

If it veers right then it definitely sounds like something's out of alignment. I found that my SAI and camber #'s varied wildly between the first few shops I went to. The "after" numbers of one shop were way different than the "before" numbers of the next.

I would search for a REALLY good shop (I'm sure you've done this). What a headache. I hope you find the answer!

^than it should just be the steering wheel, have it realigned. That's what happen to me after i got my suspension put in.

Put my suspension in, waited about 3-4 days for it to settle in, this is when i noticed my steering wheel was off center, got a laser alignment and never looked back.

3 different alignment places..it's hard for me to believe they cannot or forgot to
center the steering.

I will try to get it aligned once more and see what happens.
I really hope it's just the steering wheel not being centered.

Thank again guys.

Why not ask someone from the shop to take a ride with you? After my coilovers for a Porsche were rebuilt I had alignment done and had pull. Took it back and they said it was fine. I asked them to take a ride and I showed them the the problem. They proceeded to fix the problem. it turned out that one of their alignment racks was out of calibration or something as they said there were others with similar problems. Anyway wish you luck in getting it sorted out.
