Anyone can recommend a good tire pressure for these tires for autox and road course applications?

Using 245/40/17 on stock wheels, I'm running 36f/33r cold, for pretty hard street driving. I'd start there and you might have to go up another psi or two.

There's a wide range of opinions here. Anywhere from 35 to 42psi hot. I haven't found cold pressure to be very useul because the weight and driving style will affect how much temperature build up you get. I ran 37 all around for practice a couple of weeks ago, but I think that is a little too low. Although this is also affected by the rest of your setup. On stock suspension you may need more pressure in the rear to induce rotation. Refer to the STU setup thread.

On my last autox, I ran 40f/38r hot and I think the car rotated fairly well. But I think I still need to play around with the pressure a little more to optimize it. But I could use some opinion from others as well
My set up is 17X9 RPF1 wheels, 20mm spacer up front, 245/45/17 RE01-Rs, Zeal Function V6 with 9k/10k springs.

Tires

I'd expect the NT-01s to have better grip. But I also consider those a track-only tire. Well, i guess living here in so. cal, it doesn't matter too much But I would guess that they will wear out faster than the RE-01Rs.

The 245/40/17 RE-01R's will replace the 235/45/17 046's (not to be confused with the 048's) for street use on the stock BBS 17 x 8 wheel. The 255/40/17 Nitto NT-01's replace the same size Toyo RA-1's mounted on my Wedsport 17 x 9 track wheels. The Nitto's won't be used on the street.

By the way, the $100 rebate (American Express branded award card) is technically NOT available on the RE01R. I'm got the form in my hand, and the RE01R isn't on the list. I'm in the process of checking on this right now. Tires in the $100 category ($75, $50 & $25 categories as well) include: RE050A Pole Position, RE050A, RE050, Turanza with Serinity V, Turanza with Serenity Z & Dueler H/P Sport. As the RE01R is the top of the line tire, the rebate might extend to the 01R. I sure hope so, as I might invest in two sets before the rebate ends June 30th. Form must be sent by July 14th.

I have two sets of RE01R's. One unshaved and one shaved to 6/32 by tire rack.

Two track days (eight sessions) with the unshaved version. 37F/34R cold tire pressure. Good turn in and great tracking when dry. A little slippery during high speed corner when wet.

Two autocross schools and two autocrosses with the shaved version. 38F/34R cold tire pressure. The tire held up well and no problems. Several class winners in my local region drove the car and they are all impressed and happy with it.

Size 245/40/17 on 17x9 rims.

That car club rebate at http://www.potenza.com/ certainly does. I've already gotten one check. I'll be sending in several more in the near future.

RE-01R tire pressures/Swift springs

I ran my 06 MR at Buttonwillow Raceway on Saturday(23rd). CCW full course with
infield. 8 sessions total(2 drivers). Tires never gave up! final pressures 39 hot
on all corners. Swift springs, roll center correction , precision steering & sway bar bushings in front. 25 mm rear bar at middle setting, lower trailing arm bushings
and RS trunk bar in rear. Car was netural, but would come around nicely under power in the slow turns. However, I think the swift springs lower the front too
much, causing the nose to plow in turns when entered too fast & power couldn't
be applied right away.(fast in-slow out!) I'm going to try the GTworks springs
next.
