Bridgestone RE-01R

I've read the posts on these tires and tirerack has them discounted to 146$ a tire for a 245/40/17...people have been saying they lack the turn in of the Yokohama a046 but with a shorter sidewall shouldn't that be corrected...thanks for any information.

The sidewall is a fair amount softer. I actually like the SLIGHTLY slower response; the car is less nervous/jittery. It is a tad slower, but not by much! I think it takes just the right amount of edge off making the car a little easier to drive, IMO.

I am running a bit higher tire pressures than with the stock tires. I'm at 36psi cold in the front, 33 in the rear, -1.0 camber on the fronts. I might go up to 37psi on the fronts, I need to drive the car hard to find out. I use to run ~33f/30r on the stock tires.

I've got a set on order. I'll try to post some feedback on the new set of 245/40/17 RE-01R Street tires and a new set of 255/40/17 Nitto NT-01's. I'll try to compare with the OEM 046's and the Toyo RA-1's (previous tires).

I have put about 100 miles on these tires and the first thing I noticed on these tires, are they are quiet and they ride extremely nice for a tire of this calibur. I autox 4 runs with them when they only had 50 miles on them so it's hard to make a fair judgement of how they grip. But they never squeal at all so I guess the limit of them have yet to reached.

I have report back after I have put some more miles on them. Great tire for the money, especially they are only selling at such a great price.

Keep in mind the A048 is considered an r-compound (60 treadwear), while the RE-01R is a true street tire--so an apples-to-apples comparison isn't quite fair.

I drove on a set of the RE-01Rs on a Z4 @ a solo event & was very impressed w/ the grip & the turn-in was excellent, IMO

He's talking about the A046's not the A048's.

The 046's are the stock Yoko tire.. Dont you own an Evo?

oops! duh

Sorry for the major blunder--I bought my car used w/ aftermarket rims/tires...

I will say that I've driven another Evo on he stock tires @ an event. The 046s are excellent, but I'd still give the nod the the Bridgestones--although I've never driven an AWD platform w/ them, just RWD.

i have heard the reo1s are grippier but also wont last as long.

Just FYI, Robert Fuller (Robi) highly recommended these tires to me while discussing suspension tidbits.

I'm thinking of trying the RE's 245/40-18 or the Yoko Advan sports 255/35-18. I like the size offerings of the Advan Sport much better.

I'd expect the NT-01s to have better grip. But I also consider those a track-only tire. Well, i guess living here in so. cal, it doesn't matter too much But I would guess that they will wear out faster than the RE-01Rs.

It would be great to get this comparison as I am considering the RE-O1Rs for my next street tire and the RA-1s or Nittos for track. Please do post a review. Thanks!

Here's a great test with the 01R's from Tirerack.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...ay.jsp?ttid=71

I love the 01R's, great tires. They are a street tire though, the NT01's are going to be faster for sure, but wont offer the quiet, pretty comfy ride either.

I have 254/40/18 01-R's and love them so far. Better grip then the stock advans for sure.
