Yes, you can definitely feel the difference in braking and handling when you put on lighter wheels. You'd be amazed how much better the car feels by just reducing 2-3 lbs. from each corner by switching wheels. Add on the weight savings of using 2-piece rotors and the gains in performance is even better.

 

I have the 17x9, so they are a little heavier. They are about 17.5-18lbs each.

The Kosei's that eve-slow mentioned are probably the lightest cheap wheels you can get, but they don't come in a 17x9, only 17x8.

 

Are you sure about that?

 

The 17x9 FN01RC 35 mm rims weigh 19.68 lbs without valves, centercaps, or wheel weights. I weighed mine on a certified scale a couple of years ago.

They aren't that light, but they are cheap and strong.

 

i have 18x8.5 FNO1R-C's right now. they're nice, but the few pounds that were gained over my BBS did make a difference in the way the car felt.

 

I recently bought some SSR GT7s as well in 17x8.5. My scale told me they weigh 17.5 lbs. They look pretty good especially for how cheap they are. I bought them from a guy that had a few sets for sale in the private f/s, wheels section.

 

I saw that thread also at the "Private For Sale Section". I ended up just buying the wheels from Tirerack directly.

Just curious to see if you received the correct hub-centric ring and lug nuts for your EVO. I had to specify that with the sales rep that I had an EVO to make sure I received the right accessories.

I got mine from tirerack too. The guy made sure the hubcentric ring was in there but i didnt get the lug nuts where can i get them from? I am having them powdercoated gold right now cant wait to get them back and mounted.

I would give Tirerack a call and ask for the lugnuts if you bought the wheels from them. You need the 12 x 1.5 lugs.

 

I'm interested in 17x9s. Do you know of a good source?

 

I know this is an old thread, but these wheels are on sale right now. How are they? They're lightweight and as cheap as Rotas. Anyone have pics of them ON their EVOs?

 

Lighter wheels definitely changes the feel of the car. I went from 18x9 Rota Boosts (about 22lbs) to a set of stock 17x8 BBS wheels (about 17lbs) and the difference in acceleration, handling and road feel is incredible. The whole car feels lighter on its feet and reacts faster to driving inputs.

 

Anyone ever bend an RPF1? Those seem to have the best bang of weight per dollar?
