I've been using ARPs and 25mm slip-on spacers for the last 3-4 years on a well abused, dedicated autox car with no issues FWIW

I have autocrossed with generic extended studs (not sure which brand but not ARPs) for 2 years now. I use 12mm and 15mm slip-on spacers, with 275 wide slicks and an electric impact every event. I had one stud break on me, most likely due to over torque, otherwise all has been good.

i guess it depends on how they are taken care of, torqued, etc.
torque wrench wasn't locked and they got torqued to 90 ft-lbs and two of them broke the stud off

That doesn't feel like very solid steel if only 90 ft-lbs will cause them to break.

It was also a massive pain to re-order nuts/studs as they were not answering their phones for a 3 month period or so.

Definitely something wrong there. 90ftlbs shouldn't even come close to breaking a stud, much less two.

Definitely. If studs are breaking just from torquing them down I wouldn't want to also put cornering loads on them.

I don't think it was originally a problem with the part itself. Unless they were eBay knocks-offs or something.
There is nothing wrong with bolt-on spacers, in general.

I just had to say this. 5th (last) session at SOW today. Left front came off diving into the bowl turn. The studs simply sheared off. No evidence on the wheel that the lug nuts were loose. Lugs were properly torqued to 85ftlbs for every session with an accurate torque wrench.

Needless to say when it goes back together it's getting billet spacers, ARP studs and new lug nuts.

Beyond that, I ran a 1:26.477 in the 4th session for my best time on NT01's making 410whp running ST43 pads and no brake cooling.

At least it was only an ouch to your car and wallet. Still sucks to hear, though.

Wow, that's pretty bad. Glad you're okay though. How's the damage to the car?

no bueno, man. with all the heat and pressure going on, maybe it's a good day to swap them out from time to time. Like maybe annually.

Fender, bumper, lip, undertray, side skirt, wheel, and the crossover line on the bottom of the caliper. Not too bad.

That happened to me at an autox event a couple years ago. Had all 5 ARP studs shear off, and lost a wheel. Afterwards I heard that studs are a wear item and should be changed periodically. Lessons learned.
