KW Coilover setup from Robispec. Lots of Pics.
Update on Page 2 regarding performance.
Updated my review - 1Sep07
Robi's own custom valved KW Clubsports. Plus Whiteline Roll Center Adjustment kit, rear bumpsteer kit, trailing arm bushings, and Robispec rear sway bar (25mm, 4-position adjustable).
Ride: this is a 9 MR, so I have to admit that day-to-day ride livability was a big deal. Regardless of Robi's assurances, I wouldn't believe it until I drove it - and this suspension is really, nicely compliant. Below 30mph, the difference is there, but neither uncivil nor immature. Mind you, I first drove the car in NJ on some broken roads. I live in DC, and if you are familiar with the NE of DC, you know the roads are fairly bad. As far as ride is concerned, it isn't unreasonable to compare his Clubsports to the stock MR.
Performance: I look forward to updating this section in particular, but I do have some preliminary results. This past weekend, I had a chance to try out the low-speed function of the suspension at a Porsche Club of America autox. I was in the first run group of the day and there was quite a bit of debris on a tight, continuous left turn that also had a change in camber and change in the asphalt's visible condition. I was really happy at the car's ability to put power to the ground while the suspension sorted out that section of track. When I later worked that corner, i found that lots of folks were having a hard time with the camber/ traction changes and the debris causing understeer, which of course meant the power came much later. After this weekend, I have a lot of confidence in this suspension's ability to handle a bumpy track. Bumpy track performance was the primary consideration for the spring rate combination, as suggested by Robi. BTW, with 4 people in the car, on the first run of the day, the Evo turned a time faster than 3/4 of the street-tired Porsches there, taking fastest times of the day into consideration. By the time of my last run, (just me this time) the car was faster than all of the street tire equipped cars there and within .6 of a custom valved JRZ/ r-compund equipped Boxster with a few power mods. I am still running the same tires the car was born with.
Robi is a spectacular guy. He doesn't advertise it, but the guy is the crew chief on an SCCA T2 car that has won 7 out of 7 of the last races this season. After completing my car and a few other Evos out in NJ, he had to continue on to do suspensions on a Porsche and a Lotus. Robispec brings race results and a massive amount of experience not only from Robi wrenching on lots of other cars but also his specificity and depth of knowledge on the Evo. These KWs are first rate hardware (considering they're TUV approved - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technis...wachungsverein) which is valved with spring rates tailored to your application. He installs all the supporting mods, cornerweights, aligns, and sets your camber. AND he brings his top level work to your location. Had to put it out there, but I've been so satisfied with the work he did that I happily do the Robispec fan boi thing and post this on evom. To sum it up: Robi has a holistic (Emphasizing the importance of the whole and the interdependence of its parts - dictionary.com) approach to suspension tuning which is why he is so different from most other folks that simply sell you parts. Shoot, he still answers his phone to help me with adjustment ideas when I go to the track.
On with the pics!

Oh yeah, Robi is one of those guys that doesn't believe in sleep, so this is rare footage of Robi catching some Zs. Robi is also one of those guys that look like Santa.

Robi is definitely a great guy thats very knowledgable in the field that he is in. I had my KW Variant 3 Club sports aligned and all from him too. Couldn't be happier.

More and more I read posts about Robi, more and more I'm convinced this is the route I should go.
Awesome set up btw.
As a MR owner with very similar suspension set up preference, I really appreciate the review.
Nice write up

Nice write up
(You'd really have to set him up though)
It would be interesting seeing him get through customs with all his different suspension parts stuffed into his tattered blue suitcase lined with black Robispec t-shirts
