Yes. I am 99.9% confident that both sets of wheeles and the associated hardware is not the issue. The problem displayed on both sets of wheels, and the problem was also absent on both sets of wheel when the stock advans were in place. I've attempted to eliminate the new tire sets as the culprit as well by rotating back to front for both sets. The problem still occurs.
My next question is:
Is it possible to have a brake rotor issue that I can't feel when applying the brakes but is intermittent? If the rotors were out of round wouldn't I feel it all the time at certain speeds? My problem disappears completely after driving a few miles only to come back a few miles later.

where do you get these hubcentric rings? Its weird because my rims are beveled on the part where it meets the hub which is straight. Do these rings fill that gap? Maybe that all that I need to fix my problem.
Shadowpriest,
Sorry for the miscommunication, the driveshaft and rotor cutting have NOT solved my intermittent shimmy. My brakes are now perfect - when car is running without vibration there is no shimmy when applying brakes. I guess I am trying to diagnose your problem using my experiences. How did we know the driveshaft was out of whack? Visual inspection with car running in 4th in the air.
In the past when I've had intermittent shimmy it has always been a tire. Unfortunately I don't think a Hunter RoadForce can tell if a belt is bad just by putting pressure on a wheel/tire running at 55 odd mph for a few tenths of a mile on, which is what really happens. In my case, I have come to the conclusion a belt is bad as my drivetrain does not appear to be the culprit.
Now that I have diagnosed that my brakes are fine (warped rotors would cause constant shimmy) and I believe yours are too, time to go back to the tires. I wish I had another evo owner close by with a perfectly running car to swap wheels with...suggest you do same. Keep me posted. I've emailed tire rack for their opinion about a bad belt. My Porsche had this problem with old michelins and a new set of hankooks this past summer, but when I put ES 100's on it, the problem went away, thus why I think our problem is tire related.

Shadowpriest, you say problem was absent with both sets of wheels with advans mounted and present with both sets of wheels with the replacement tires? Is this correct? If so, your replacement tires are the culprit. Roadforce says they are fine, just like my tires, right? Hmm...find someone with a properly running evo and swap wheels and take it for a ride. I'd have to say it is your tires, period.

I have a local Evo owner that I can probably get to swap me wheels/tires for a test drive. I'll try to get that going and see how it turns out.
