Stability around corners?
Stability around corners?
I want to ask this stupid or not about stability around corners. Basically I have a IX MR w/swift springs and cusco triangle front strut bar, essentially everything else is stock suspension wise, power mods are apexi intake, buschur licp, 02 housing, dp, tp, greddy ti-c catback not tune yet. The question is going around a corner hard is fine with smooth surface but for example if there is a bump in the road i.e., new asphalt the car rises slightly causing the car to loos a little traction. Is there a cure for this? My thoughts are what could possibly cure this I will be getting a 23mm adjustable swaybar in the future as well. Thanks ahead
A sway bar will not cure it. You need a better suspension setup. The suspensions job is to keep the tires on the ground and control the motion of the body. It does this through matching various spring rates and damping rates. Yours are not tuned well for that bump. The sway bar doesn't really help much with up/down motion, more just lateral.
Well I wouldn't totally agree with the above. The MR bilsteins do quite well keeping the wheels on the ground with Swifts. Just slapping on coilovers is not going to help. 99% of the time if not properly setup with the much stiffer spring rates will make that problem much worse. I would try the Whiteline trailing arm bushings and rear bumpsteer bushings first. These have been known to help that a bit. Also things as correct alignment can contribute to what you describe. I have a similiar setup and run a Perrin 25mm swaybar and I do not really experience what you describe.

Not all problems can be solved by throwing money at them, especially when the user doesn't even know the cause of the problem. Going to a knowledgeable suspension tuner is a good start, but going in with the mindset "my car is broken I need to buy a fix" is not.
