+1 for RPF1's. I can't comment on strength since I'm very careful to avoid pot holes... but They are light, and cheap for the weight. I have 17x8.5 +30 with the stock tires.

Looks kinda goofy at stock ride height but I didn't get them for the looks

I'm running 17 X 8 Enkei RPF-1's also +35mm offset. These babies weigh in at 15.5 pounds per wheel. I'm using a new set of OEM Yokohama A046's on these wheels....

well atleast you accepted the idea (unlike half the DSM and honda world) that theres no such thing as cheap, strong AND light wheels. im a big fan of the RE30's as they are forged(strong) and VERY light. i also like buddyclubs but they're fairly hard to obtain.

RPF1 i would NOT trust if you do alot of track-work; street wheels they are sufficient/light/cheap but fuggly

I had a set that I bought off of Curt Brown. I sold them to another EvoM member about a year ago.

Hope that helps!

unless you are going bigger (and thus stretching the sidewalls, lowering your overall diameter) your stock BBS are exactly what you said you wanted. they really are pretty good already. for a 8-9" wide rim, 17 lbs or an lb per inch of diameter is pretty good. IIRC they are already forged too!

if you want an extra set of stock-sized wheels, id personally run some of the other lightweight, cheaper, cast wheels mentioned in this thread (FN01R-C, RPF-1, Kosei, etc.) as your winters and track wheels and keep your stock BBSs nice (if you ever sell the car or just in general its nice to have mint set of stocks), but that's just me.

Regarding potholes and strength: forged wheels are stronger and stiffer than cast, but a big enough pothole is going to damage either kind of wheel if you hit it hard enough, and a bent wheel is a bent wheel and is no longer usable (if you're smart and want to be safe). the question is, do you want it to be a $200 cst lightweight wheel, or a $550 forged lightweight wheel?
