Thanks for all the posts/pics/links. It looks like there are a few good options. It may boil down to whick of the forged/lightweight wheels look the best to me. There are certainly some fugly wheels out there.

Thanks again.

if you want an extra set of stock-sized wheels, id personally run some of the other lightweight, cheaper, cast wheels mentioned in this thread (FN01R-C, RPF-1, Kosei, etc.) as your winters and track wheels and keep your stock BBSs nice (if you ever sell the car or just in general its nice to have mint set of stocks), but that's just me.

Regarding potholes and strength: forged wheels are stronger and stiffer than cast, but a big enough pothole is going to damage either kind of wheel if you hit it hard enough, and a bent wheel is a bent wheel and is no longer usable (if you're smart and want to be safe). the question is, do you want it to be a $200 cst lightweight wheel, or a $550 forged lightweight wheel?
I agree. Stick with the stock ones. Go wider on your next set

Lightest wheel in sizes like 17x8, 17x8.5, 17x9, 18x9, 18x9.5 are Buddy Club P1 QF, Volk CE28N, Racing Hart CP-035R (discontinued), SSR Type-C (I heard they aren't strong). Save SSR, the rest cost around 500-700 per wheel depending on size and vendor. Long wait or hard to find but still easier to get than other rare ones in the weight range on that site. All are forged aluminum.

yes, I definitely agree with that statement being approximately 13.5 lbs the BUDDY CLUB P1 QF wheel is the perfect match for this car.

If I were to go with any wheel in the world for a 17'' wheel that would outdo and outlast I would undoubtably go with the BUDDY CLUB P1 QF wheel. DUDE, that wheel is just sick! I mean the black one mmm..... nice.

Good info, however SSR Type C are not true forged wheels, at least not like the rest, and that is why they cost significantly less, and are known not to be as strong. They are a good value.

Thanks for the info, I always wondered why SSR were weak. The P1 QF is pretty good looking and very light, but only problem is that it would need spacers for our cars to clear calipers so the weight advantage over CE28N kind of gets negated.

SSR uses semi-forging technology, so it is semi-forge

I had a set that I bought off of Curt Brown. I sold them to another EvoM member about a year ago.

Hope that helps!
I picked up a set of those and sprayed em' flat black. They look pretty cool.

While I was doing research on unsprung weight; I found that the weights on that site aren't consistent with the actual weights of the wheels (per the manufacturers). For example: that site said my Rota Boosts were 18lbs, when in fact Rota's manufacturer said they're more than likely in the high 19's or possibly even 20lbs.

Saw some discrepencies on the 5zigen's, SSR's, and Wedsports just to name a few. Good to look at the site though, and then look around elsewhere to see if you find consistent numbers. Also good to find someone that has actually weighed them to verify the numbers. I typically use that website as a starting point, then I call the manufacturer and check to see what they say. Then I'll search on here to see if anyone has owned a set AND weighed it.

Kinda looking for a 17x9.5" rim for track events. There's not a lot offered though. My reason for going with a 9.5" rim would be to run a 275 width tire. Still debating.

I know a 275 fits on a 9" rim, but there's gotta be some unwanted flex there.

As for 18's; I know 18x9.5" are a pretty big bump up in price - as are the 18" race rubber!

I just bought a set of RPF1's in 18x9.5+38 with 20mm kicks front spacers... just got them last night and it was cold so I havent put them on yet... Got the RPF1's for $300 each... I saw a thread where they were weighed on a shipping scale and they are actually under 18 lbs, within 1/2 lb of the MR's BBS.. even tho they are 1" bigger diameter and 1.5" wider and not even forged! I put RE01s on the Enkeis which are about 7+ lbs lighter per tire than Falken RT615s and have better grip- got them for $900 (buy 3 get 1 free from my work ) So total spent was about $2100 (unless I end up having to do any fender rolling) and now I have a nice winter set and a nice summer set, both weigh about the same and price was a major factor- Overall wheel/tire combo weight is similar to stockers... I put snow tires on my BBS...
