Lightweight/Strong 17's ?

I'm looking for a good set of rims to shed unsprung weight but also have plenty of strength. My Evo IX SE is a daily driver that may see a road course every other month or so. I plan on putting winter tires on the stock rims and putting the stock tires on the new ones, so I'm looking for 17's that the stock tires will fit on. We have some bad roads, potholes and such, around here so strength is a must. If I have to spend $$$ to get lightweight and strength I will.

Thanks

I did a search for lightweight wheels in the thread titles and found a few hits. No good information on the wheel durability is mentioned. I don't want pothole dented rims on my daily driver.

Thanks

doesn't forged = strong?

Get another set of BBS SE's? They're lightweight.

Looks like Volk RE30's have a great combination of strength/lightness. Anyone have/had these and hated them?

Thanks

The Enkei RPF1's are light and cheap. Anyone running these have an idea how they hold up vs. potholes or can compare them to the Volk RE30's.

Thanks

I run, they are fine for small potholes. I have not had any problems but I also don't drive head on into deep gorge sized potholes. However, they are known to have spoke flex/deflection under heavy duty track use which can cause them to hit the brake caliper.

Thanks for the info. I try to avoid the potholes but there are a couple roads close by that are pretty bad.

Was that a question or are you telling me to stick with the stock rims? Remember, I want to shed some unsprung weight.

I have ssr type c-rs, they fit the strong and light cat but not cheap, theyre two piece forged. Look great and are wider than stock.

After seeing what minor damage an 70-mph impact into the a concrete barrier did to my Ro_Ja Formula 7's (just one rim), I'd definitely buy another set! I mean, the car/rim went about 1/1.5ft up the barrier and left a mark to this very day, and the only damage was the lip was pushed in about 3/4ths an inch half way around the rim. Very impressed to say the least!

These are dropped forged and my F7s (15.5lbs per) look like this :

I'm thinkin you might like these:
