THE best street coilover
One thing that I don't like though, is that the damping adjustment screw for the front pair is actually at the bottom. So I can't just pop the hood and adjust it. I have to raise to car up to get to it. The rears though, are on top as usualy just like the tein flex.

Oh damn, that sucks. But they look so good. If I had to do it again, I'd go for the Ohlins.

I guess I want a coilover that is easy to adjust. One that you wouldnt have to jack the car up... if that is possible....

I have looked around for suspension and what i found that look good is the Cusco Zero-2R. it is on the website below from Machevo.com

The Cusco Zero 2-Rs are great coilovers but probably to stiff for everyday street riding, as are the JICs. I'm running the Tein Flex with the EDFC and like the adjustabilty on the fly from within the car. Spring rate has alot to do with how they ride. If I were using coilovers for racing, I'd do the Cuscos.

The good thing about JIC's is that you can get them with ANY spring rate up to 2000 lbs/in. I got the stock JIC spring rates with my kit: 480 lbs/in front 380 lbs/in rear. Its a general conclusion that the higher the spring rate the more uncomfortable the ride will be, so if you want 17 way dampening adjustments, adjustable front and rear ride height, adjustable front and rear shock height, and adjustable front upper camber plates the JIC's are for you. But I can say that these are not for those who are only interested in slamming your car. If you only want lower your car up to 8" under stock and have your body sit on the ground these are not for you.
3gphil - Now w/480 in front and 380 in the rear, how close to a stock ride is it? Should I get it w/ a lower spring rate? It will be hard for me to compare since I have an EVO and yours is an Eclipse.
The stock ride in the EVO is already pretty stiff, w/ the JIC will the ride become stiffer? I do plan on lowering the car on 18' Enkei NT03-M just to be flush, not to be slammed.
Anyone using JIC FLT-A2's on an EVO? Anyone?

With the FLT-A2's on my Eclipse the car can't even be compared to an Eclipse with a stock suspension. With they way I've got them set-up they offer nearly neutral (no oversteer or understeer) handling whereas with stock components the car understeered horribly. Also because the shocks/struts are so much stiffer than stock the car has virtually no body roll, even with the dampening set to 1 (of 19). As far as ride quality goes.......its quite a bit stiffer than stock as my stock spring rates were 180 lbs/in. But because of the additional 300 lbs/in in front, 200 lbs/in in rear the car handles really well on the autox, where you don't have to worry about potholes/road imperfections.

I'll have them on the car this weekend. I also purchased the Cusco 23mm adj rear sway bar. I've experienced some mild understeer and I'm hoping the C/O's and larger sway will compensate.
Some of you mentioned the Teins being too stiff - the rates on the Flex is 504 fr and 448 rr (lbs/in). The RA's are 671 and 504! and the HT's ares 895 and 671!!!
WHoaa.. now thats stiff.
I'm hoping the ride stays about the same (or slightly stiffer) with the Flex's. I believe the rates to be fair in comparison - to the Ralliart C/Os, which are a tad soft.
But you cant compare the rates to standard springs. Different preload and progression.
Anyway - someone drop me a reminder and I'll post the results (and pics) Saturday.

Just a little FYI
i was talking to jeff hill at Turbotrix today and he told me that the Tein FLEX for the EVO VIII is the same as the EVO VII. i guess it fits both cars.
He also told me to wait on my suspension because tein is redesigning the FLEX system specifically for the EVO VIII to make a true system specifically for our cars.
