STU class Tire
SM is super conpetitive in all regions.....
I'm in the same spot. My biggest pause is modding my fenders to run bigger tires. I don't want to ruin my paint. I also don't want to have to run 10k/16k suspension for 285 stickies on the street.
STU is the hot ticket but doesn't allow you to run catless or correct the roll center.
Also I see no reason to go with an 18" rim in STU.
As for 17" tires I saw a set of lightly used shaved RE01s in the FS forum.
EDIT: HERE IS THE LINK

The new Toyo R-1R are out, not sure about 245 sizes, I have them in 255, but so far I am very very impressed, came off Falkens and these are much much grippier, better feel, warmup, etc.
Sooo...we can have a tuned stock BCS (otherwards upped boost?) In the STU thread it says no boost modifications...does that just mean aftermarket boost controllers? I guess it doesn't really matter to me because I would rather have the power and get spanked in bsp. Just curious...sorry for going OT

Well looks like no stu for me...I gotta have the power...theres no way I could live with the stock boost after being tuned on 24psi.
Back ontopic: after reading some sites and the norcal post I believe the Toyo might be the hot ticket for STU. I think it may beat out the RE01R and the Yoko from what they are posting. Somwhat expensive but I guess we will see how well it does.

If you are gonna autoX I wouldnt run the 245/45. I would get the 245/40 instead. The R1R seems to be pretty stiff though so you might get away with it. I know with my stock sized RE01R that if I dont have the pressures spot on I can get them to roll over a tiny bit.
No boost control devices..... but once you uncork the exhaust you will see much higher than stock boost levels. Once I installed a DP and catback my car would spike to 24 and hold 20 at redline. This is without tampering with boost control and simply opening the exhaust. This is completely legal.
We have one the quickest STU Evo Vllls in the country, and we are running neck and neck with the 2006 STU ProSolo Champ and the 2006 3rd place STU M3.
Interesting. This is the first real feedback I've heard on those. Are they close enough to the Advans to make them a contender at Nationals?
