STU class Tire

i need some help, i need new tires for ax now remember stu rules when where discussing this so: 140 thread wear and 245 max.

i ordered a set of 5zigen FN01r-c 17x9's for sunday use

and im gonna run the bbs's on the street so..

the choices:

Rt-615's (which disappointed me this weekend b/c well i need a new set of tires bad)(245 45 17)(BTW I THINK IM GONNA KEEP RUNNING THEM FOR THE STREET JUST NOT ENOUGH TIRE FOR AUTO CROSS)

Advan Neova AD07's (which are dam expensive but i dont see anyone locally using them)(think ill have to spray them down after each run?)(245 40 17)

Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R ( everything i read says these are great)(245 40 17)

Neal any imput? i mean two out of the three have to be big sellers for u.

I race in south fl heat is always a issue.

and i know that this has probably been discussed a million times and i know how to use the search function but no body has a straight answer money is not a issue times are so dont give me ur opinion with out facts to back it please.

Any of the tires we have in our Extreme Performance class would work well, especially the B-Stone. Short of using a dedicated track tire, which doesn't sound like you can, this would be the best street grip tire we offer. If you are going to just burn them off and need to spend less $, look at the Kumho MX. The 245/40's would prob be the best size to use.

Thanks for the speedy response neal, i run a class called Street Touring Ultra i cant use a R coupound tire and i have a minimum thread wear of 140 allowed and a maximum width of 245. i am how ever going to keep a set as a dedicated tire and rim to just autocross. like i said before money isnt the issue the best time possible is.

Advan > Bridgestone > Falken. Backed up by last year's Nationals results. 11 of 13 trophy spots, including the top 6, were on Yokohamas. No one even bothered to bring the Falken. The Ecsta MX's won't be close to competitive with the Falkens, much less the B-stone or Yoko.

There's an STU thread in the motorsports section:

Yup. Thems the breaks. It's basically a case of how fast can you afford to go.

EDIT: I should add here. If you are serious about finding out which is best and price isn't really an issue, then you buy set of each and test.

Try the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1's. Ive read on two different occasions where they were a half second faster than the Bridgestones.

1) Yes, there are straight answers - in the motorsports section where such things are discussed.

2) Most of those tires shouldn't even be discussed.

3) "Imput" is not a word.

Care to clarify Why shouldn't the Advan or RE01R not be discussed. They are the best street tires you can buy. This is for STU...not everybody runs 285 hoosiers and BSP.

I'll reiterate since I seem to be the only person in this thread who runs STU nationally.

The RE01R is good. The Neova AD07 is better. The Direzza Z1 _may_ prove to be a good alternative, but it hasn't yet. That's it. Those are you options. If you want to win, pick one and work on the rest of your setup.

Well im not on a national level yet, or even a regional for that matter. I am running a pretty straight forward set up. KW v3's a front roll center kit rear sway bar and end links and a bump steer kit. im putting on a set of camber/caster plates up front and sway bar adjustment plate. other than that suspension wise im maxxed out other than probably a set of robi spec races. i was understeering like crazy at the last auto x and my tire pressure was jumping 10-12 psi after each run it was just bad tires so i plan on running this new set of 17x9 with the 245's but im leaning to the advans just bc of there performance at nationals last year. i might pick up a set or re's and give them a try on the street. there not much more than the rt615's. i mean on the street the rt615's gave me no issues after my 3rd event and almost 20k on them on the street the tires just cooked.

so to date its just gonna have to be the advans ftw

I would go with the Bridgestone RE-01R, it's a proven autox performer. Not as ridiculously expensive as the Yokohama Advan Neova, and better performance than the Azenis RT-615.
