Clutch / Brake situation help please
Clutch / Brake situation help please
Ok so I searched this alot and I havent found the answer.
My clutch seems to be engaging at different heights ALL THE TIME and it is freaking annoying. This happened a while ago and I took the car back to get the clutch line bleed and it fixed it for about a day or so. Now, I know that the clutch and the brakes use the same fluid reservoir, so at the same time I dont have a solid pedal 100% of the time.
Now the weird stuff. When I come to a stop and get into neutral and wait for the light to change (WITHOUT my foot holding the clutch down) and then go to engage 1st to pull away the catch point is ok. But if I come to a stop and while waiting for the light to change, push the clutch in and put it into gear... when I release the clutch to pull away it ALWAYS engages at a different point and sometimes it almost makes me stall due to catching right off the floor almost.
Yes, I know how to drive. To me it seems like I still have air somewhere in the system.
Another wierd thing is when I use the A/C and drive around the brakes stop ALOT better and the clutch engagement point and consistency improves ALOT. WTF!!! In addition to the improved engagement point I will occasionally notice that the clutch doesnt fully engage until I'm almost at a stop which is super F'in annoying as well when the A/C is on only....????
Has this happened or does this happen to anyone else?
I have an Exedy Twin HD, it has been adjusted via pedal but I dont know what else could be up with it.
Another question, since both the clutch and the brakes use the same reservoir, if I have air in any part of either the clutch or brakes would it effect eachother?
Thanks in advance for answers

I had a similar problem with my 03 VIII. I had the hdss with a six puck. Anytime I got going from a stop the clutch pedel would grab really early, and almost make me stall. I thought i needed my clutch pedel bled, didnt but didn't get around to it. As soon as the weather warmed up here in kc the clutch problem went away. Also when the clutch grabed prematuraly it would make a really loud squealing noise. but it hasn't done it since weve have nice weather. Im still going to get a braided clutch line and bleed the line and brakes to get fresh fluid in the system. This might not help much but noone had anything to say. Good luck!

This only a guess but it has to be something goofy like this. So, maybe, if not correct, this will at least get you thinking in the right vein.
Upon release, the clutch pedal master cylinder piston has to move enough to uncover the port to the reservoir. This allows brake fluid to flow back into the reservoir or provides makeup fluid when the clutch is depressed.
The pressure plate provides fluid pressure causing the pedal to return to the up position. A misadjusted pedal rod could prevent sufficient movement to uncover the port. In your case I think the piston is returning to a position where the port is only sometimes uncovered. Having the A/C on may provide enough vibration to encourage the slave cylinder to move a little more than normal and cause the port to be uncovered.

I have the same problem. I looked today and discovered that I had a small leak coming from my clutch release cylinder. Going to retorque the banjo bolt and the hard line that goes to the clutch line.
