Best set of coilovers?
Because people in general use the cheap springs from Tein and don't replace the shocks or struts which causes the shocks to blow out prematurely. The Tein springs are too low in my opinion and cause stress on stock suspension parts.
Now I think that the Tein basic coilovers and Tein flex are made very well for the money you pay. It goes by the old saying you get what you pay for.

With S-techs, you lower the car just too far to have any usable suspension travel left to handle well. You are probably on the bumpstops at rest.
A pic of a strut we removed from a car with S-techs. Notice the bumpstop is at the top of the strut. Bottoming out occurred quite often due to the lack of travel.

You only really have a couple inches of bump travel in the strut including the bump stop, so if you lower the car 2 inches, you're really not leaving yourself with much left. And then you hit a 1 inch bump.....
They do look cool though. And they are advertised as a "style master" spring, not a handling spring, so it's not like they are trying to be something they're not. So they do what they're designed to do. Trying not to bash them....

just installed sustec pro five coilovers in my partners evo. He's always using at as a DD and takes it to willowsprings for track events. He seems to like them a lot and the adjustability on them are amazing.
KW Variant 3 would be my first choice.
A fellow Evo owner here in Charlotte had them installed by Robispec himself and he reports that it works amazing. Great for daily driving, and for the track he has independent adjustment of compression and rebound. Once a proper alignment is dialed in along with the correct damper and ride height settings the result is one very capable handling machine.

I have been reading this for awhile now and I still cant settle on what the best choice of coilovers would be for me. It will be used primarly for Daily Driving with a track day every now and then. I had a good deal on some Megan Streets but looks like the consesus is they are not the best.
So instead of starting a new thread could someone recommend a good DD coilover setup and an average price so I can start looking at some of the vendors?

It's pretty obvious you have gotten plenty of reputable information here and the bilstein pss9's seem to be your best bet from a consumer or vendor standpoint. If your looking a coilover equivalent to a pSS9 for half the price or something your just waisting forum space.
Now on the other hand if your interested in a little less inferior set-up like the Tanabe Pro SUSTEC S-OC Type II they are pretty much what you seem like your looking for. Adjustability/comfort/increased performance over original equipment at a mucher lower price. Kinda like a little bit of everything and the best of nothing at a reasonable price.

i have a set of robispec clubsports on my MR, 6k miles. actually thinking of selling em... look at the number of robispec fans out there and the number of cars in the redline TA series that have KW/robispec stickers and are in the top 3 in each type/ class. clubsports are the hot robispec suspension, race is really pretty race oriented, while robi will tell you himself that the street guys upgrade to clubsports.
let me know if interested.

For an all-arounder, I would get Robispec KW Clubsports. The low maintenance aspect of stainless steel is appealing for an everyday driver. Especially, in the tropics where I live since the roads are darn awful and it rains a lot.
If I had nice US. highways to drive on and a road course nearby, then I would get the remote resrvoired, Robispec aluminum Race KW's, FTW.
