brake pad installation
hey all,
wondering how you guys installed after oem pads - dealer/diy/mechanic/etc? if diy, what pearls/pitfalls do you have for us? what type of result did you get with your install? what would you do different or same?
if someone else did it for you, who did you use and how much did you pay for the install? any way to figure out who can be trusted to let them touch your evo?
what kind of breaking in did you do for the new brakes?
thanks!

Hawk hps don't bite as hard as oe pads but dust less and are more affordable.
Ferodo 2500 are slightly better than the oe pads but dust slightly more and are Moe affordable than stock pads. Comparable to porterfield.
Those are the most popular options. Everything in between is in between.
I did them for the first time a couple of months ago for the 1st time and it wasn't to bad. Now I can change them out in less then 20mins. The hardest part is taking off the wheels. Just pay attenion to what your doing and you'll be fine.
Once you've done them once you'll ask yourself why would anyone want to pay to install them.
Go to stoptech's website for proper bedin procedures.

Its defiantly a diy job. Really easy to access and replace the brake pads, the only thing I would say is make sure you use anti-seize (I used the permatex stuff) on all the shims, reuse all stock shims and make sure you bed them the way the manufacture tells you to.
DIY - it's not bad. With our 'quick change' calipers, we can pull the pads out without having to remove the caliper from the rotor.

As far as dusting goes, I used to wash my wheels once, twice a week at least. I've been riding for almost 2 weeks now without any noticeable dust buildup on my wheels or calipers.
