Missing front cross bars... advice?

Ok so in a nutshell managed to take my car to a friends shop so we could easily install the buscher TBE. After lifting the car and starting on the exhaust I noticed that BOTH my front cross bars are not there, looks like the previous owner removed them for god knows what reason. Kinda pisses me off, especially the fact that I did not even notice =/.

So now I'm looking to try to get something to replace them. I figured I'd call the dealer and see how much the stock ones were for a quick fix, yeah screw that... lol. So I was wondering what people recommend. I had check out the Works Croxx Plate II http://www.worksevo.com/store/produc...products_id=39 but I was curious what other replacments were out there that people felt were an improvement over stock and that would help stiffen the front suspension for autox.

Gonna do some poking around the forums and see what I can find but figured I'd ask as well. So any advice would be highly appreciated =). Thanks for looking!

The bars don't really do much.... unless you road race / autox you wont miss them. But if you think you will go on ebay and get a cheap replacement set.

Heh I autox at least twice a month, more if SCCA meets more =/. I figure at this point upgrading rather than regular replacement may not be a bad idea

I'm pretty sure there is another set of holes there, I just never paid any attention to it since there just wasn't a bar there...............................Well this just kind of blows my mind.

Theres really no upgrade though.... its just a bar. The most popular is the cusco type 2 as it is a pretty color blue .... too bad its not visible unless you flip your car over!

Go on ebay and do a quick search for "EVO BRACE" and you will find low cost replacements.

Product Name: RMR Lower K Brace
Price: $176.45
Description: The RMR Lower Control Arm Brace is a replacement for the 2 weak factory bars that spread across the front lower sub frame. Mitsubishi put braces there to help with handling under acceleration as the sub frame tends to spread. Our brace is stronger then the factory units giving more control and less chassis/sub frame. flex. Also, when installing any aftermarket down pipe, the removal of the factory units is a must. Our brace allows room for the larger aftermarket down pipes.

+1 For the RMR lower control arm brace. I am running it on my car and I had it powder coated blue to match the factory EB. No issues with rattling downpipes or clearance issues of any kind. Also no need to use spacers to drop it down even lower and lose clearance. It is strong as H3LL and looks good too. I have run over several small animals and even hit a road gator (semi truck retread for those that have never heard of that) that tore up my FMIC and tore off my lip and all of my underpinnings and it didn't even scratch the powder coating off the brace! I am very satisfied! Good Luck. Let us know what you decide.

Well after looking at the choices I settled on the cusco type 2. I was going to go for the carbing 6 point but I found out it places me out of STU class since it does not use the "original mounting holes" and uses an additional 2 holes. Technically this also eliminated the GTSpec bar and the K brace.

I was going to go with the K brace but what I did not like about it was the bend in it that accommodated the down pipe. Then of course finding one in stock became an issue.

So in the end I went with the Cusco Type 2 and I'll see how it feels this weekend if all goes well =).
