Another steering wheel vibrations thread...

So when I press my brakes, my steering wheel will vibrate, BUT it will only vibrate until i de-accelerate to 30mph, from 30-0 it will stop. I had Hawk HPS pads plus rotor pro rotors installed less then 8 months ago, is this a balancing issue?

Were the wheels put on with a torque wrench at factory torque settings? I know people that over tighten their wheels with impact wrenches and it warps the rotors. Normally in city driving (less than 30 mph) you cant tell they are warped, if it isnt bad.

Take your rotors to a machine shop and have them turned, then use a torque wrench and tighten wheel lugs with factory torque specs.

Hrmm, Would I be able to tell by looking at the rotor if it is warped?

Nope, can't see it with the eye. Mine are a bit warpy myself. Kinda sucks. Do you notice that when they get warmer its not as bad? Or is it exactly the same after a good cruise?

No, my pads don't make noise very much at all, it did this one time a week or so ago, but that was the first and only time I've heard it.

I believe the vibrations get worse/appear after the car has been driven a while and then they stay pretty much.

Why do we need "Another steering wheel vibrations thread..." Search button is at the top of every single Evom page, please use it.

Read and read some more guys. Rotors can warp but it's very very rare.

http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp...rakedisk.shtml stoptech white paper, they know what they're talking about

I wasn't sure if my problem, which only occurred for speeds over 30mph, was rare or not. So I made a thread.

Yea it may be rare, but it still happens, just take them em and get em turned, its really inexpensive. The labor is the only hard part.

Mine too does this, but only when the brakes are cold. If I get them warmed up a bit (drag the brakes) it goes away. I don't think that this is a huge problem unless it doesn't go away.

Stock pads and rotors.
