STANCE / DBA / Whiteline - front suspension setup
So...
I've been attending few auto-x, and been having fun with it...
Just felt like stepping it up a bit.
Upgraded items here and there...
* Whiteline Roll center adjustment kit
* Whiteline Spherical end link kit
* Whiteline rear bump steer kit
* Brand new STANCE AL+ coilovers with SWIFT 10k springs
* DBA 4000 Wiper slot rotors front and rear
* Project Mu Titan Kai (HC+) brake pads up front
* Project Mu B-spec in the rear
Time for pics...
Parts - the two coilovers on the right are the STANCE GR+ I've had for 2.5 years!
Removed...amazingly nothing was seized! 0 issues with the coilovers
The two ALUMINUM shocks on the left and brand new parts to go with it.
I got the new Super Duty reinforced Pillow ball bearings...
Came with Spring Washer to eliminate any spring binding between the spring collar...
STANCE GR+ weight...
I couldn't find the pictures of my HKS Hipermax coilover weight, but for reference the HKS fronts weighed in at lower 15lb range
Here's the new AL+ with the 10k SWIFT spring!
2.75 pounds of unsprung weight shaved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Springs are slightly thinner, which will allow for more stroke if needed.
DBA 4000 Wiper slots front and rear...
Trying on friend's 18x10 +22 Enkei RP03 with 255/35/18
Friend's STi with 18x10.5 +15 with 265/35/18
Rear wheel fitment...hehehe
***Currently car's at the alignment shop getting Roll center adjustment kit installed***

The DBA rotors and OEM rotors were about the same weight. Although the OEM rotors were slightly lighter...most likely due to 35,000 miles of use on them...
I will post an update after the car is picked up today.
* My expectation is to have a more responsive front end with this setup, and at the same time have a very well dampened car that I can drive daily.
My STANCE GR+ was great for daily, even drove to Philly and back 3 times. At the track it had no problems keeping my track tires planted! Hopefully with the STANCE AL+ it can do the same and more... with the help of Whiteline!

My 1 full day review.
* get car back...do the typical bedding in the pads / rotors deal...
* drive around for a bit... feels good so far.
As soon as I started getting a bit more aggressive, first initial response is...how flat the car feels. Minimal roll in corners.
Car's turn-in was much more flat and direct.
Bump steer appeared to be minimized as well. The old tie rod ends were pretty worn out. My car only has 38k miles.
Car felt great on the highway... very stable / smooth.
I HIGHLY recommend the Whiteline Roll center kit!!!! AWESOME!
Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to track the car soon at the next Auto-X.
oh.....I was very impressed that the rear bushing of the front control arm is actually not even a bushing...it's a spherical end! GO MITSU!!!!

I think the STANCE spring is more then sufficient and quality is excellent, however I went with Swift springs due to their weight. I've had the STANCE GR+ on my car for over 2 years, and loved it!
Couple of my friends ordered STANCE with Swift springs (for an additional charge).
As for the ride quality, can't tell the difference.
One of my friends actually tried out Torco coilover springs (same spring rate as stance), later put the original STANCE springs back on... he just said the stance springs felt better....<--- i know...subaru owners....LOL.
I'd say if you are hitting the high speed events regularly, Swift springs might be able to hold up to a slightly better consistency rate during the 15min run times (Time Attack)...and going ***** out that entire time.

I'm referring to the low spring rates.
You will soon realize that you're going to need stiffer spring rates then 10k to keep the autocross body roll in check, that's if you really intend to be competitive. You are obviously shooting for R-comp classes since you have the whiteline RC kit, spring rates are usualy in the 12k/16k front to rear or higher.
The reason behind such high rates(I know you're gonna ask) is to minimize camber loss that comes with body roll. The higher rear rate is dictated by the platform's motion ratio, not to be too technical.
You could however get away with lower spring rates by going with stiffer sway bars like I did in the front but then again it's a balancing act since you can only go so far without compromising how independent one side is to towards the other.

I'm not running R-compound tires yet.
I got the roll center kit because my ball joint was going bad and didn't feel like getting the whole control arm from the dealership.
If I was to go with R-comps, I'd go with STANCE SS-D's which are valved for the high spring rates.
I understand where you are coming from.
Reason why I went to a slightly stiffer springs up front. Car handled well prior to this setup, however felt that it could be better.
Hopefully as I gain more experience I will move up to R-comps eventually.
I don't know why, but for some reason...they let STi's with Hoosiers in street mod class...grrrrr....
