Question about tires

I searched but i found it kind of hard to understand. I had 4 brand new yoko es100s on my car and only drove around for maybe 1000 miles no hard driving. The tread pattern looks to still be close to 100%. The other day I ran over something in the street that sliced my front tire. I took it to discount tire today and they told me the es100s are discontinued, so they offered me a BF Goodrich tire with the same size dimensions as mine. My question is will this cause stress on my drivetrain or since they are pretty similar tires will it not be much of a problem? Should I go get my thread pattern shaved to match up with the other tires. I really dont want to buy 3 brand new tires when i have 3 perfectly brand new yoko tires on there. so any suggestions.

Shouldn't cause stress on drivetrain. I would search for a single ES100 if I were you.

Actually those tires are very very VERY far from excellent. You should be able to find them on line some where.

Really? Well i dunno these are the only tires ive had for the car so i cant really compare. But it seems like it has great grip even in the wet. But either way when all tires run out I will probably just go with nittos or another type

Not the best idea to mix/match tires.

I know mixmatching tires is bad. But this is same size tire with similar tread patterns and very close tread wear. I cant picture wearing out my differential over such a small difference. I just cant justify wasting 3 brand new tires.

Example,

I just corded 1 of my road racing slicks due to a **** alignment. I was able to sell the other 3 for almost what I paid new, due to the fact they only had 1 race session on them (about 20 laps). With street tires, I'd think it would be even easier to sell 3. There could be 3 other people out there with the same issue as you.

In regards to the BFG's, what model are they trying to put you into. I have a set of BFG G Force Rebels 275/40-17 on right now and I am highly displeased. For daily driving they are noisy, and if you try to do some performance street driving such as a hillclimb, they start squealing very early, without the tires even heating up. Using the "tires at the limit" rule of thumb with squealing, I am very unimpressed, and no, my car is not being overdriven when this occurs. They also get extremely hot, very fast. NOT something you want with a daily driver, especially with a 340 treadwear rating.

This is the tire they gave me

http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/fin...MTAHZI&rf=true

Ive only droven like 10 miles on it and its only one tire and its in the rear so I cant feel much of a difference at all. I will look into selling the es100s but Im wondering if i do sell them what set of tires should I get. Should I just go ahead and get the bf goodrich or go get some new nittos or yoko

Holy crap that an expensive tire for what you get.. I would go with the Dunlop Star Specor Hankook Ventus RS2 I've used the Hankook its a very very sticky tire excellent for the street and track you can even shave it for better performance. The nice thing is, its not squirmy on the track and handles heat very well. I had 3 track days on them and they still looked great on my M3.
