Really depends on what you want the tires to do. All season, summer only, strictly winter, good wearing, dry/wet traction, etc.

I think he's looking for what tires people run now and what they think about them....or just a tire that you've had a good overall impression of.
For me, I ran Falken RT-615s in 275/45/17 in my mustang for a summer tire before I got rid of the car. when I get summer rims (for my lancer GTS), I'm probably going to go back to them. their wet and dry handling as well as overall comfort is amazing. they were about $160 a tire in that size. Great performance tire!

The 615's have been far surpassed by other tires in the last couple of years. I don't think there's any other choice than the Dunlop Star Spec right now. Its one of the three stickiest street tires on the market, does better in the rain than the other two (RE-01R and Advan), and is about as cheap as you'll find a tire in Evo sizes.
i am currently running stock size tires...nitto 555 extremes and they seem to handle well.... about to put on some volk attacks 18x9.5, what would be a good tire for winter?

I wanted something better than the Stock Advans in way of civility. Since I daily drive my IX MR, the costs of the Advans- and their comfort- just don't make it fiscally responsible of me to continue to use them, although they provided the best overall grip.
In the end I choose Bridgestone's Potenza RE050 Pole Position (235-45-17). The difference in comfort is night and day, but so is the grip and performance. The Advan is simply a tire made of glue, and not rubber, or at least that's my interruptation between the performance of the Advan vs the Potenza. I have lost traction in wet coniditions on the Potenzas, and were it not for the EVOs AWD, I'd probably be driving a rental or something else because I would have totalled it for sure.
The Advans never, ever, let loose, and I drove on them for nearly two years before I made the switch.
Overall I am impressed by my choice of the Potenza Pole Position. It is much quitier than the Advans, has better treadlife (even though the Potenza has a treadwear rating of 140, and the Advan of 160), brings less vibration into the cabin, and they provide pretty good performance for a price nearly half of the cost of the Advans. Do you want to pay 280-300 for a tire, or 170? Considering I drive my EVO like an EVO, it made no sense to keep buying the Advans when my EVO never sees track use. And even then, I'd probably purchase an all out race tire for track use.
