Over the last 4 years we have used multiple sets of the top street tires; stock advans, Falken 215s and 615s, Yok Neovas and Bridgestone RE01rs, and found the Z1s to work best for us on an Evo.

The Z1's are good tires. Even on my heavy (4000lbs) car they showed no sings of decreased grip after 5 back to back autoX fun runs. And at the last even I was able to set the fastest street tire time. Get them, you won't be dissapointed.

Food for thought; I ordered a set a few months ago based upon the reviews. Had them installed and was happy with them. Within a week, I had a puncture that was not noticeable until outside the car. Because I had driven on the low tire (on a long distance trip) it of course ruined the tire. This tire, as with many performance tires, has very stiff side walls and it's near impossible to notice a flat on highway driving.

Because this is a new tire, and heavily marketed by Tirerack, everyone was out of my size. Dunlop said they were not producing any more for two months, even though they knew almost every store was sold out. Fortunately they were able to locate one of three remaining tires in the continent!

I admit my circumstances were unique, but it does lend credence to buying an existing product that is readily stocked and available from multiple vendors considering the importance of matching tires on our cars.

Bumping my old thread up

time for a new set of tires. Z1* has been nothing but good to me but i want to try something else

previous Tires on evo and other cars:
Falken Rt 615
Dunlop Z1
Dunlop Z1 * Specs
Re01R

Im torn between 2 tires, RE11 and NT05s

these will be my street setup with some track events

Size in mind: 255/45-40/17

Input?

You need to stop asking questions like this. Reading your own thread and/or searching would tell you that would be foolish. And the RE01R is no longer made, but its replaced by the RE11, which is much more expensive than the Z1 Star Spec, yet the Star Spec continues to be the tire of choice for many evos running in solo ii.

RT 615s are an old-tech tire, way, way bottom of the class. If you want to be disappointed, go for it.

i never said i was going to pick up a set of RT615, just mentioned that i had them so no one will recommend them... mind u, alot of people still recommend rt615s

my question was simple.... NT05 or RE11
