Best overall street coilover

Ice cold RS2's tires + deer = drift king into a curb.

Never thought of changing my suspension on my car, but i am thinking since i need to replace i might as well upgrade.

I am quickly researching coilovers because i cant see spending a lot of money to replace OEM parts, and the cars already at a shop ...

Edit: Also will consider a strut/spring package!!!

Basically i want a coilover system thats of good quality but wont break the bank and is better than stock. I do not want something like megan, BC racing, etc because i just find those brands to be cheap. Any recommendations for a good overall street coilover that out performs stock? I am not the huge racer, but i do auto-x the car every once in a while, however, i dont want something that is going to be too aggressive on the street.

THANKS

Why coilovers instead of something like the SmikeEvo Bilstein/Swift set-up?

OR Bilstein HD dampers with our GTWorx springs?

Both of these are spring and strut packages that are actually engineered to work effectively and will outperform a lot of stuff out there. Pretty cheap too compared to good coilovers.

But if you reeeally wanted coilovers, I would do Bilstein PSS9, AST 4100, or KW V3. These coilovers won't beat you up and perform extremely well.

Ohlins DFV if you felt like you had a bunch of money you just really didn't want anymore.

Still, on the street and occasional auto-x....you're not getting that much more than you would with Bilstein HDs with good springs.

That is the thing, i never planned on upgrading until i hit a curb. i am waiting for an estimate to see how much money i will have to play with, i am also debating between 17" rims or 18" as well. either way i need something that works without rubbing problems, and also wont be TOO low for 4 season driving...

can you please link me to the set ups mentioned in your first post, or pm me a price shipped to jersey? thanks

Gerrard/Vishnu spec ohlins.. Good luck finding a set though.. If you can, they are the best riding coilovers I have yet to see and they handle amazing.

^ Depending on what i do, i would say my limit is $1,600. The cheaper the better of course, i was looking at hte buddy clubs. I am researching and if a strut/spring application is basically just as good for a lot less, i will go that route.

For a street car we always suggest H&R Coilovers. They are not very popular in the Evo world for some reason but they have an awesome ride and perform well in autoX or track days.

Also if you want to fine tune H&R sells many different size and weight springs to change out.

Pretty much anything "euro" would be a better buy...

I own both Bilstein PSS9 and a "cheap" set of Coilovers. My cheap ones FAR out perform the Pss9's in every way. Just my .02

tnt1106- Can you elaborate about the PSS9s and your cheap set of coilovers? Were your cheap ones Megans by chance? I was under the impression the PSS9s were a good bang for buck coilover in 'European' style in that they maintained suspension travel over bumpy roads as opposed to JDM, thus better for bumpy US roads. thx.
