Dunlop Direzza 036

Is anyone familiar with this model of the Dunlops? The tread patterns look somewhat like the Advan A048 but I don't have any other information on it. I see them a lot on Japanese tuner time attack cars. Are they r-compounds?
Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot Neal, I'm asking this because I know that this model isn't sold widely in the states, even in Asia. Yet it still seems very popular amongst some group of enthusiasts, at least due to the price and the looks (similar to A048) and I was actually quite surprised to see that a lot of time attack cars had them. I just want to know how well it performs interms of dry traction. I'm guessing it is somewhat like the RE-055's.

You must mean the DZ03G tyres.

Yeah they are a pretty popular tyre down here in NZ and are a semi slick, so in the same category as the A048 and RE55s.

I've run the older 02G and i'm now running the newer 03G and i'm pretty happy with them.

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
I don't know if those are US branded or tagged for the US.

I just checked the photos of DZ03G and yes, it looks exactly like that, thanks.
It must have been sold as a '036' outside NZ and AU, and never made it to the states officially. How would you compare it to A048, R888 and RE55? I know its like half of A048 and RE55's price, but does it hold heat pretty well? Is the dry grip on par with the competitions? How about durability?

The 03G is a dunlop japan made tyre and its used in places like UK, Japan, Aus, NZ and probably lots of other places, so I still think you maybe confusing the G with a 6.

Its a direct competitor to the A048 (now A050) and the RE55s (now RE11s) so expect performance levels around those tyres.

I'm running the hard compound and wear rates have been very good, and dry grip is better than any other tyre i've used before (i've driven on RE01R, AD07, Dunlop slicks with a fair bit of use and Falken semi slicks) and I can do many laps without the tyre going off (thats with the hard comound). However depending on who you ask some people like the A048 better and some like the RE55s better.

Per our tire info supervisor,

"Dunlop has a variety of motorsports tires, from the "036" up though full on slicks that are used in Europe, Asia and down under. But, for now these products are not headed to North America through the normal channels. Any that do come are considered grey market, and won't have any corporate warranty or technical support".

Hope that helps

Thanks a lot.

I guess I may have confused G with 6 as you said.

Ok thats why I barely see anything regarding them on American forums.
