I would think that you could def get some vibrations from your drivetrain. Like for example if your driveshaft was not properly balanced you would feel a vibration

New Jersey has the second worst roads in the nation, right behind Hawaii. Trust me, I have to deal with it everyday. A bent rim will definitely cause vibration in the steering wheel. Sometimes, the wheel is bent out of shape to a point where balance weights will not balance the wheels. Thats what happened on my old car. I hit three consecutive pot holes on the NJ turnpike.

The shake could come from the tire being bad too. Rotate the tires again and see if it helps

my friend swapped from his summer rims about a month ago and forgot to take out the little plastic spacers that come with his alloy rims and had the same problem because one had come off with the wheel while the other three stayed on - maybe check if that ring is still on there?

I think the "ring" that you guys are talking about is the hubcentric ring. If your wheels are larger than the hub (which is standard), you need a hubcentric ring to "bridge the gap" so to speak between the wheel and the hub.

Without the ring, it will cause the exact vibration you're describing. It is very easy to lose one.

Jack the car up, take all the wheels off and look for these:

They can also be other colors. They will pop out of the hub on the wheel.

It's easy to lose one (or more) when you get your tires rotated/balanced if the shop doesn't know they are there.

Luckily a new set is pretty cheap, but you'll need to know your hub size and bore size of the wheel to make sure that you get the right ones.

Could also be a broken or bent axel. Does it pull when accelerating?
