clunking noise after lowering spring install

I just installed tein lowering springs on my evo 9 today and now im hearing a clunking noise when i turn the wheel. Could it be the spring slipping on the perches? It only makes the noise when i turn nothing when going straight. I made sure all bolts were tight so i guess its coming from the springs? any help would be great thanks.

eh.. tein, bad choice, but either spring have to settle in or something is wrong with the install.

Incorrect install. You must make sure the hole in the top perch lines up with the hole in the lower perch. See #13 in link above.

hey thank you too. i had the same problem with my evo 8 when i installed my swift springs. i was sure i installed them ok. i took the strut back out and i used hand tools on the top 17mm strut bolt and lined up the middle hole on the upper perch with the hole on the bottom perch. it worked.

Noise after lowering spring install?

Hopefully a simple problem because im not the best mechanic in the world. I installed Swift Spec-R lowering springs part # 4M008RS-R on my 06 Evo 9. Now when I drive and turn the wheel the whole way around it makes several popping sounds which are best described as the spring being wound slightly and releasing causing a popping sound. Also which ever way i turn the car and straighten out the car wants to pool that way. Any idea what I could have done wrong, also could this be the wrong part for a regular 9. I cant seem to find that exact part number any where. Thanks in advance.

i interested in this too. same springs and i get an occasional popping too, but no pull. i have swapped a ton of springs over the years and its not exactly hard to do on these cars so i doubt its installer error.

Yes I agree that its not a hard install Ive done several spring install before too so im pretty sure i didnt do anything wrong. Did yours do it more when you first put them on then they do now? also do you have the exact Part number or is it like 1 letter different. Thanks for you help

the alignment hole in the strut and strut cap are not aligned properly and it is causing the spring to bind then snap when you turn the wheel.
