Front sway bar makes a big difference!
Front sway bar makes a big difference!
For the longest time I didn’t believe a front sway bar was necessary. Part of the reason it’s such a pain to install. So, instead of going through the hassle of installing a new one, I decided to modify the stock bar using home made endlinks. After all said and done, I took the car for a ride and it made a noticeable difference. Keep in mind this is in addition to 25mm RSB and otherwise stock suspension. Besides being much flatter around corners, to my surprise, steering response (turn in) is much crispier and easy to turn in, no need to manhandle the car into the corner anymore. Overall, it’s well worth it.
The whole process took about 2 hours.
1. Put the front on jack stands.
2. Remove both front wheels.
3. Remove stock endlinks and bracket.
4. Support the sway bar with a block of wood, to give you clearance when drilling.
5. Mark the spot (about ¾” in from the stock hole) and use a center punch.
6. Keep the brake lines away from the drill bit.
7. Start with a small bit, and then move on to the bigger one.
8. Install the new endlinks.

Drilling wasn’t as bad as they made it sound in the other thread: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBGbY...e=channel_page

You will also need the drill bits, and I had to use a couple of 1/2" nuts (as spacers).

I did this last fall. I took me 2 days. It was absolutly horrible, haha. I used TONS of oil, and still burned through 4 drill bits
After I finally got it done, I did notice a differance in turn-in and the car does corner SLIGHTLY flatter, which was my #1 goal. In conjuction I use a Whiteline 24mm RSB on the middle setting. Softest setting I didn't notice a difference. Stiffest setting I was getting WAY too much inner rear wheel lift. The middle setting is juuuuuust right
With Swift Sport springs, I find it to be an awesome set-up, although I feel my stock GSR struts may be a little worn from the previous owner S-techs, so I'm trying to gather some money for HD's.
Back on topic, this sway bar mod is great and noticable but I do feel that a REAL front sway bar would be a much better alternative. A good thing to do if you're doing a clutch install. When I do my clutch install sometime down the road, I'm going to buy a sway bar as well

it shortens the bar, or at least the distance between endlinks on each side, in effect making it stiffer.
Looks good though, but I think I'll just wait until I need to do a clutch, then put in a fresh bar and end-links. I wonder what Mitsu would say about warranty if they saw it, LOL.

If someone ever takes their bar off the car and takes some measurements, i could figure out the effective diameter of the shortened bar to compare it to an aftermarket bar.

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
I have my stocker up in the attic in OH. I can mark off where the holes are for you and send you that measurement. Do you want as the crow flies (hole to hole) or along the bar?
