245/45/17??

i was thinking about ordering some 245/45/17's from tirerack since they are pretty cheap.. and was wondering what your opinions on running such a tall tire on the stock se wheels? right now i'm lowered on swift sport springs, and was also wondering if anyone else had experience with this setup.. lowering springs with 245/45/17 tires. do they look too tall on the car? or not very noticable??

I run Hankooks Ventus R-S2 with that size no problem. And they don't look to tall they look wider more than anything. I don't have lowering springs but there is still plenty of room so you should be fine.

i thought 255/40/17 was the most you could go w/ out modifying the fender? Or is that pushing it w/ lowering springs?

I have run 245/45 for a while. See the links above. I am currently back on my black rims with 245/45 Z1's.

krisdlm - that has nothing to do with it. You are thinking of wheel offsets. 255/40 and 245/45 and 245/40 all fit on our cars without issues.

Yeah many use that size w/out issues. I've only had a few people return cause the size rubbed, but I think it was more their wheels doing vs. the tire size.

Why would you want to go with taller tires? Just curious.

there is a sale on re01r's on tire rack.. and those are the only evo sizes left, on top of that you get 100 dollars back when you order a set of 4 re01r's so they would end up costing 70 each tire...
