What does that black box do in the rear bumper

Well today while taking the t case and transmission off. I noticed there was a cut line it was rubber into hardline that then ran to the back with the brake lines. What does this line do looks like it hooks up to a black box in the back wondering what this does

Is it next to the frame rail by the driver side rear tire? If so it's probably your evap canister, used for emissions.

Charcoal canister - Evo only one in the rear - DSM only one in front. The idea is to catch gasoline vapors that would otherwise vent to the atmosphere and purge and burn them in the engine.

Removing charcoal canister will throw a cel, which then disabled using ecuflash. Hope your state doesn't do visual inspection...

Get rid of it. -10lbs. I used a couple pieces of rag zip tied over the ends of the two hoses left hanging down. Also get a blockoff plate and remove your EGR. STM has a nice plate...http://www.streettunedmotorsports.co...te_dsm_evo.htm
