Rotas are quality cast wheels. They great for a street car.

I don't think weights gunna matter if your putting down power. Hehehe

and don't think that rotas don't make light wheels cuz they do. 15"(drag wheels) slipstreams weigh about 11 lbs.. Thats pretty light for what they are. Now if you really wanna spend the penny get some welds.

You get what you pay for (weight, strength, and image).

Actually no I don't, just cuz I'm new here doesn't mean I'm new to the FI game or sports cars in general or forums... Oh I've done my homework and have done built a car so I already know. Power to weight ratio.

If you guys were that damn worried about it I pretty sure there would be more evo's with gutted interiors. 17lbs a wheel isn't gunna make a DRASTIC difference vs a 15lb wheel. Now I'm talkin about 17-18" wheels.

Yes you get what you pay for but some of you who just go off he say she say crap don't even know. Let's see, how much are MB motoring wheels? how much are
formula D wheels? How much are Tenzo wheels? How much are Raze wheels?

Those are cheap wheels.

Rotas aren't cheap by any means, no they don't have that name brand, Volks, welds, works, CC classics, etc on there but they look good, don't weigh all that much, and like stated many times, they get the job done.

Now if your car is a garage queen then by all means go out and spend 1500-2500 on wheels. It doesn't see the road that much.

A 2lb (8lb total) change in rotational mass at the wheel impacts every aspect of performance - acceleration, deceleration, and cornering. The same reduction at the tire has an ever greater impact. It also changes the feel of the car, making it seem lighter to the driver, allowing for more confidence. The reduction in rotational mass can be dyno'd, as well. If you only care about mindlessly pinning the throttle on the highway, none of this will make an appreciable difference. OTOH, if one actually drives the car, the impact of rotational mass cannot be dismissed. Judging by your comment, you do not understand any of this, especially when you cite static, sprung mass in the same breath. Sorry.

Now if your car is a garage queen then by all means go out and spend 1500-2500 on wheels. It doesn't see the road that much.
<grin> I'd suggest doing the opposite. High-quality, low-weight, high-strength wheels are much better suited to a car that's driven in a spirited manner, assuming you're referring to a buyer who's not upgrading solely for the sake of style.

Are you refering to road race/auto-x as you state cornering? If you are then of coarse every little ounce plays a roll as you can't slap a huge turbo on and expect to get traction with that type of driving..

If your speaking from a everyday race car language well then there's so many other variables to look at. I'm pretty sure the OP is just using it as a DD as majority of the members on her do as well.

I bought Rotas due to the bang for the buck aspect... and I out grew "image" in grade school.
People ask me what they are, I tell them, they ask what's that, I tell them a wider wheel with no weight penalty. Responses are generally "cool", esp after I tell them I got wheels/tires/lugs for WAY under $2k.

Yea, some very good arguments here, but I have a different opinion in the style section. I don't see anything wrong with having a car that is about style, i mean everyone is in this game for a different reason.

I think the Rota's look nice, and I will probably pick up a set for my DD all-seasons. I understand the weight issue and that it may make the car "feel" better, but not paying $1500-2000 for rims will make my pocket book feel better. Plus, the wife would probably kill me if I told her I wanted 2K for rims: "Why, are they made of platinum?"

FWIW, you don't need to pay $1500-2000 for lighter wheels. A question of style is another matter. Good luck.
