I like Rotas. I'm planning for a set myself.

As for the weight comment, well, width>weight

I woulnt rock rotas EVER on my car. Here are some reasons.

Your stock wheels are much stronger and better quality..

you can look in the classifieds and fine GREAT deals on Quality Rims (nt03,rpf1,cr kai etc)

why support a company that intentionaly RIPPS OFF other companys styles.

and remember you wheels are whats supporting your whole car... why go cheaper then stock?

*** what i did ***
i rocked my stock wheels for about a year until i found a set of rpf1s for 400 dollars! great deal for real quality rims... kept them and saved my money for the next 1year and a 1/2 and came up on a set of volks for a great price.

Be patient with your car.. You paid a good chunck to own an evo so why put lesser quality then stock rims on it?

hope i shed a lil more light to the topic

Blah, blah, blah... more "interweb" regurgitation at best. 99% of naysayers have ZERO way of knowing what if any of the Rota line is stronger or weaker than the OE wheels. I forget, how many sets of the Rotas (or other wheels for that matter) have you "anti this or that guys" OWNED and compared side by side yourselves? Matter of fact anyone can find many broken Enkie pics on the same interweb as the Rotas. Do all the looking into it I did before you buy and those pics are probably BS liars too that off roaded/didn't tighten the caliper bolts/rolled it over/slid into a curb like the Rota horror pics circulating the web.

Guess it's obvious I'm tired of the people cranking out all this negativity/misinformation not being the ones with PERSONAL experience. This goes not just for Rota wheels, but cams/tires/exhausts/coilovers, whatever. If you've had a set that failed on YOU, speak away. Otherwise, feel free to pick at the shady business practices all you want, but leave the vapor-facts out of the equation.

Hear, hear!

Perhaps the concept of intellectual honesty should be extended to all posted comments. Personally, I don't believe most everything I read here. I'm not exaggerating - most everything. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a given claim, only to go through the individuals past threads and discover an alternate cause for the event, claimed by him, as well. Like pronouncing enormous gains after installing a discussed mod, while forgetting to mention the plethora of other parts installed at the same time and the fact that the car got its first tune. Or, folks commenting on racing setups who've never set foot on a track. I can go on for days....

right on zeus. So tired of OPINIONS of these wheels failing. If you drive right and install them properly they are as good as any wheel and that includes your volks etc. If you dont like them because somebody told you they were bad and you believe them time to start wondering how easy it was for that person to influence you. Until they fail on you first hand dont tell others to avoid them or not to buy knock off if the companies that sold the orginal version cared about the average joe they would reprice there wheels accordingly

Please, NO ONE get me wrong... I am NOT saying these wheels/cams/whatever are better than those or these. I AM saying that regurgitated misinformation is becoming the mainstay vs. an occasional error. Coming from an aerospace manufacturing back ground do I think you can get a stronger wheel than a Rota? Don't be silly, hell yes you can, and you can even do it without paying for "another car". Is a properly forged offering "better" in my opinion, of course it probably is in a moderate impact. I'd "bet" that if you slid into a curb, a properly forged wheel would be more likely to bent/deform than to break. Either way though, your screwed. 3400lbs of car sliding laterally into a curb is going to reek havoc on that corner... end of story.

Is it necessary to have a forged wheel for Average Joe street car? For most probably not. For most street cars, cast wheels are fine. The OE cast wheels are fine. People need to ease up on the high horse and look at things a bit more objectively.

Stock Enkies bend easy. I've gone through a couple ones already. I have a MR BBS that's slightly bent, and they are "forged".

I've learned over the years that I would much rather have a wheel bend/break on me than the chassis or other components.

EXACTLY!!! I just recently had an accident where I slid laterally into a curb. I was going ~40mph when I hit the curb and I was rocking some Rotas. My rims were of course decimated, but because the rims took the brunt of the impact and transferred most of the energy in destroying the rims, it saved my frame from being bent. I would have much rather had my rims destroyed then having to worry about chassis damage.

Before anybody ask no I don't have any pictures of the aftermath. I did choose to purchase some replacement Rotas though.

A 3400 lb car and a 40 mph lateral impact, I'm surprised you didn't have chassis damage no matter what "wheel" you were running.
