should i revalve
This is partially true....from what I understand, who is doing the revalving at Bilstein can make a difference and you can ask for specific things....some of which they will be willing to do. With our custom valved Bilsteins for Subaru, Myles flew out to Poway for an intense R&D session and their engineers were very receptive to working with us. Several damping profiles were tested on the shock dyno and real world conditions. We made sure extra special attention was paid to low speed compression damping, knowing Bilstien's reputation for a lack of solid compression damping. The result is really really good and we're hoping to carry that over to EVO.
The standard Bilstein HD valving is not that bad for EVO....definitely room for improvement, but not bad. The MR's are fine too, but both have a lot of untapped potential from a good revalve.

I'm very impressed with the amount of effort that you put into developing your Bilstein package for the Subby! I'm sure the average Subby owner sending in his struts to Bistein for a $75 off-the-shelf re-valve is not going to get results anything like your package (which is why I suggested not using Bistein for a re-valve in the first place).
When do you plan on having your Evo Bilstein package available??? Will you offer a re-valve service too???
if anyone wants to hook it up and tell me what i should tell them specificly to make the outcome better please let me know as my parts are sitting in a box in cali hopefully they did not start..
-told them spring rate max. and i drive the car at autox/semi track events. anything else like the xoogoplex inhibitor should be set at .004" not .008
i have no idea.. just seems like everyone said bilstein would take care of it..now i am worried DAMN YOU EVOM!!!!(kidding)

I'd also be concerned about how much you are lowering the car with the aftermarket springs and how close you are going to be to the stock Evo bumpstops. I was really suprised at the lack of suspension travel on my stock IX when I droop/compressed tested it; it is on the stock bump stops pretty quickly. I haven't taken my suspension apart yet to examine the bump stops in detail but they appear to be fairly hard rubber and non-progressive. Stock early Miata's have similar bumpstops and they tend to suck for street use (not enough travel and a very rough transition from "sprung" to "on the bumpstops". The Miata aftermarket has developed shorter than stock softer MCU bumpstops (both standard and progressive) that provide up to an inch of additional suspension travel and that also don't spike the effective spring rate on initial contact.
Andrew (GTWorx) may be able to provide you with some advice on shortening the stock bumpstops (his Bilstein package for Subbys appears to use shortened bumpstops) as well as tips on improving the low speed compression dampening curve for the re-valve. Hopefully, GTWorx or another Evo vendor will take the time to develop an improved MCU bumpstop for the Evo struts.
YMMV

For some reason, new Bilstein HDs for EVO cost a couple hundred more than they do for WRX...add revalving on top of that and it's just more then we think the market would want to spend even for a full new damper. So the plan (for now) is to get a bunch of used Bilsteins and have them revalved and on hand, ready to ship. We could even do a core charge type of thing if the customer already has regular Bilsteins. We are still looking into a full new set but we're not sure.
And thanks! Stick around....sometimes there's good suspension discussion in here that I'm sure you could add to.

Some good reads in here, including one on bumpstops:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ead-links.html
The Bilsteins from the MR use an external bumpstop, not internal like most other billies. It's attached to the dust boot. It can be trimmed, but I'm not aware of any replacements at the moment.

Thanks, I'm slowly working my way though those threads.
I've got a set of Bilstein struts (supposed to be off an MR) in the garage attic; I'll pull them out tomorrow and see what the bumpstops looks like. I'll also see if Shaik's MCU Miata bump stops will fit on the Evo strut...that would be a nice solution if it works.
