coilovers, alignment .... need advice !

I currently am running D2 Coilovers on my Evo9 RS and the shop that installed them dropped the car to low and the ride is very uncomfortable especially for the everyday driving i do. Also the passenger wheel caster is off as well

I have the 36 way adjustable D2 RS coilovers wit the camber adjustment plates currently on the car with 1200 miles on them. The car has 335whp and 350wtq.

What i was wondering was whats a comfortable ride height to put the coilovers at for everyday driving, whats a good alignment as well for the car ??

I also heard if the Caster is off on the evos then that means the sub-frame has shifted ?? I was wondering if it was true or not and if anyone knew anything about realigning a caster ??

Also if anyone know a shop in the long island, 5 boroughs area of new york where i can get the ride height adjusted and the alignment fixed (including fixing the caster), that would help out alot

Any feedback would be great !!

By adjusting the ride height, it will not change how the car rides. It will still be just as stiff. The spring rate is what would change the ride. Did you set the coilovers on the softest setting there is? Your best bet is to google alignment in long island and let your finger do your walking. Keep calling till you find a shop that can align a lowered car with camber plates. Good luck!

suspension problem !! need help

so i have a 06 evo9 rs and i have D2 rs coilovers 36 way adjustables and i was wondering if anyone knew a shop in the long island / 5 boro / NJ area that could adjust the height on the coilovers so the car can handle the power better (too much sag, hop) and do a good wheel alignment (stock tires) ?? any suggestions on a good alignment wil be great ! keep in mind the car has 330whp 350wtq and the coilovers have camber plates.

also my caster is off on the passenger side and i was wondering if it was a sever fix ?? or if i can schim it when i get the alignment ??

i really need to get this takin care of so any advice will be great !!

mr billsteins

i just recently bought a used set of MR billsteins off the for sale forum and i had a few questions in mind.

1) what is the proper way of cleaning the outside of the strut ??

2) in the spring i want to get the swift spec r springs but i just wanted to know how much weight the springs can handle wit the biillsteins ?? and how nice is the stock mr handling for daily driver ???

3) i recently bought a perrin rear sway bar kit and i really want to throw the billstein on there and the rear away bar what would be a good alignment for it ??

4) what is the benefit of having the struts re-valved to match swift springs ??

and insight would be great !!

I used simple green to clean my MR's, I have the MR/Spec-R combo and love it, it is my DD, and I will handle much better.

also, the benefit of having the struts rebuilt to match the spring are 2 fold in my book:

1)the valving will be even better because they match the spring rate
2)its almost a brand new strut because they are rebuilt, and for $75 a corner, thats not a bad deal

I just use a shop rag - no water, no detergents. I guess if it were truly filthy I'd use whatever car wash detergent I had laying around.

I don't understand the question, please explain. I guess you could say that the Swift Spec-R, with a higher spring rate, will theoretically handle more weight, but unless you're the designated driver for the local weight watchers chapter ...

IMO a good alignment to start with will be -2*f/-1.2*r camber, 0 toe.

The springs are designed to work with the factory bilstein MR valving. I would not worry about revalving them until they start to wear out, or after about 50K miles on the clock.

yes there is a form you can get online. ITs better if you buy some used billsteins and send them immediately to get them revalved to match your specs

An automotive degreaser or an APC, slightly diluted.

I have an 06 IX RS also and I'm looking to get a set of 05 VIII MR Bilsteins with Swift Sport springs, adjustable front Tein pillowball mounts and rear OEM MR tophats. Will these fit my IX RS? I've been searching and can't find any solid info.

Thanks

You don't really need rear OEM MR tophats, unless your getting them just for convenience so you can pop them in.
