Braking Hard?

What are the possibilities of bad things happening to my car from baking hard? I had to brake really hard to hit this red light when at the end of my stop, my car felt like...it just slid to a stop or something. It was like, I feel the deceleration and then like something snapped or something. Yeah. Thanks.

hehe my car sounds like poop when coming almost to a stop....either the tires are really loud, or the drivetrain gets louder under almost a stop...at first i thought it was the rotors but i think its a mix of tires and drivetrain (sorry for the hijack)

From a single aggressive stop on the street, it's unlikely you'd do anything to hurt the car. The G forces generated are extremely high, higher than just about any other street car out there, so a hard stop will feel quite violent if you're not used to it.

A novice to driving a manual transmission might forget to press in the clutch or shift into neutral in a panic stop, and stall out the engine as a result. That could feel quite nasty, I'd guess, but I don't think it would hurt anything.

I doubt your car 'slid' to a stop since it has ABS. If pedal feel was odd you might have been utilizing the ABS which takes a lot of pressure to lock up those sticky tires.

I have had the ABS lock up and skid Autocrossing. It can happen easy. At higer speeds however I don't think that would be the case.
