Major Break Squeal

Whenever i stop my brakes squeal stupidly loud. When they heat up it just gets worse.

While i dont ever feel any slip in brakes it is just so god damn annoying... makes me feel like im in one of those beater ricers.

More info is needed. What is your brake setup? How much use on them? The more details you give the better answers that can and will be given in return.

Take the the pads out, clean and relubricate them. Remove the rotors and lightly sand the pad transfer off with 120-grit. Reinstall everything and go bed the pads back in, or, while everything is apart, take the opportunity to replace the pads with something better.

Stock pads? Do you do a lot of city driving? If you don't get the brakes hot enough to burn off the excess dust they will squeal. I've had that problem with Hawk HPS pads. Try cleaning them real good with brake cleaner and see if that helps.

^thanks, i think it might be the dirt problem. an yes it does a good amount of city driving as i live about 45 min from LA. I will be gettin better pads in the near future but i just need a quick fix, well see if this works.

Another location squeal comes from is vibration between the shims and pads if theres no hi-temp grease between them...or the shim that holds the pads in place thats held in by the 2 pins at the top and bottom of the caliper.

If that is not seated flat properly, you will get squeal up the wazoo from there. Put some hi-temp copper silicone on the pads where the metal wings contacts the pads. Vibration = Noise! Heres a picture of it, its labeled C. Got this picture from the "how to change your brake pads" in the how-to section to show you what Im talking about.

You dont necessarily need new shims, I reused my oem ones when I put my Ferodo pads on. But the hi temp anti-sieze grease should definitely go between the pad and the shim inserts and that will stop any vibration there, and the copper silicone should go between the wings of the shim pictured above where it contacts the pads and that will stop vibration there.

Mine squeal a bit when cold, but only a tiny bit...but personally I like a little squeal lol.
