My first thoughts; why put a 225 on an 8.5" rim? If that's a street tire, that's a he11i-stretch.

That higher offset is more common in the Subie world - which is why they put 'STi' in the title. I'm not sure how it'd matchup to our cars. I think you could add a spacer to push it back out but not 100%.

A much better fitment is a 17x9 +35. Which I have for sale btw!

sounds like you're just trying to push your wheel sale brah.

225/40/18 on a 8.5 wheel is NOT any kind of insane stretch at all. In fact, its not even a stretch.

i, myself, among many others have ran 225/40's on 8.5 for years. that is the actual correct fitment for 8.5 wheels on the street.

show me otherwise.

to the OP, those Zigens with the 225/40 tires look good. go for it.

and to caveat...

i had 255 on my 8.5 inch volks with no fitment issues at all I like the tire fitment actually because it protected the lip from curb rash or anything crazy

48 offset is crazy high. I think that's the ralliart stock offset. It's gonna look funny. The wheels will be tucked way under the fenders.

I run a 17x9 35offset. I think you should be able to go 35 without rubbing and it will looks better. I bet you could even run a 29 offset or a 5mm spacer on the 35's.

so I could just get these and get like 15mm spacers to bring the offset down correct

Neal will chime in.

However, 225/40/18 is not optimal for 8.5", but it certainly will not be very stretched. 8.5" wheel is typically paired with 245 or 255 for our cars.

If you want to run 225, why not go with an 18x8 wheel and save some money on the wheel size?

I'd recommend more tire; the Evo likes grip.
