Tire opinions and experiences
Tire opinions and experiences
I'm looking at a daily driver tire for my stock wheels. 235/45/17 Something in the summer performance category, but with decent wear (30k miles) I've been looking at these tires:
Sumitomo HTRZIII
Hankook Ventus V12 EVO
Kumho Ecsta SPT
General Exclaim UHP
BFG GForce Sport
Just looking for experiences and opinions with the tires. If you've had more than one of them, a comparison would be awesome. Thanks!

HTR Z III > the rest of that list
I daily-drive and autocross them and couldn't be happier. I'm currently on my 2nd set. They're a great all-around summer performance tires; great dry traction, longer life, and very stable in the rain.

i just took off the HTR Z III....they are OK tires...got for DD...but sidewall is not stiff, and grip is OK. rain is pretty good and on snow there are not bad. im not sure i would buy them again because i like grippy tires for spirited driving.
on that note...for $99 per tire they are not bad....i think they lasted me 20,000 miles w/ one track day. my front camber is -2.5 and rear is -2.0.
so bottom line...not bad for the money...just dont expect great performance.
also i think you should look at RT-615 235/40R17 for the summer. they have good grip...decent sidewall...pretty good tires and can be had for $430 + shipping (like $50)
for the extra $10 a tire is worth it IMO.
i have brought from the guys before...good customer support and fast shipping.

I would not expect 30k out of the Sumi, and the others will really need to be taken care of and driven nicely to peak 30K. The Hankook and Kumho's are a great tire. General is ok but it's choppy good wet design makes it a bit loose on dry days and noisy.
Went from NT05 to Evo K110 and couldnt be happier. They have a stiffer sidewall then the NT05 but dont have the overall dry grip. They like a bit more slip angle on corner exit but have some trouble at turn in.
Wet grip is very good and because of my area I have never experinced snow with the K110.
GL with your choice.

May i suggest Falken Azenis RT-615's. I'm on my second set. Overall, a really great tire. Are they the best out there? No. But, are they the best tire for the price? Probably. They are a great DD and Autocross tire.
The Azenis didn't do that well against its competitors in the last C&D tire test.
I would go with B-Stone RE760, don't think you'll get 30k out of them (or anything else worth buying) but with a 340 treadwear they should last a while and they offer very good grip.
Tires are the most critical component of your suspension. and I would always buy the best tire I can afford.
Luckily there are options such as the star specs that are reasonably priced. I don't know if they will meet your 30K requirement but how many true performance tires can?
You have an extremely capable car. Saving a little on tires now will cost you big on performance later.
