Best rim size for every use on evo 8/9
depends how much looks factor into your decision... i run a 255/35/18 re-01s on 18x9.5+38 rpf1s (weigh 18.3 lbs each) so I get nice low profile and wide stance, no fender rolling needed (just front spacers), coilovers not needed, and looks and stance is killer. Performance (weight/rotating mass) and cost wise 17's are probably better, but personally I would still go with 9 or 9.5 width even though its slightly more weight just to be able to run wide tires- to each his own I guess

This spring/summer a 10 lb ACT prolite flywheel is going in my EVO
The real reason to go with larger wheel, is to fit larger brakes. You can't fit 355mm rotors inside 17s, so if you have any intention of upgrading the brakes with larger rotors in the future, 18s are a must. Which is why I'm running 18X9.5s now.
17x9 or 17x9.5. This wheel size is really perfect for the Evo. You can run a very aggressive tire and it won't cost nearly as much as a set of tires for a 18inch wheel. 255/40 17 is the perfect size for the 17x9 wheel, which is what i personally run. Minimal fender rolling.
Regarding brakes, I would only upgrade the brakes if you prefer a BBK's looks. I don't feel like the stock Brembo calipers need to be upgraded, as long as you are using the correct pads/rotors. No doubt, a BBK will work better because it has more surface area and more clamping force(depending on the caliper), but i don't feel it warrants replacing the stock Brembos. IMHO.

for an all purpose wheel, the 17x9.5 is the all around best fit. not fender issues, doesnt require coils to have (like the 18x9.5). and importantly if you are truly using your car for all of the above then you will rip through tires rather quickly, and the price difference between 17 and 18 is substantial. 17s also weigh less so there is less unsprung weight. just a personal opinion...if I had the loot I would roll 18x9.5s on the daily and 17x9.5 (or 10s) on the track. depends on usage
This.
Also, less rotational weight of an 18" wheel and the accompanying rubber.
Please help, as stated above, 17x9 is a good choice. if so, what offset is best? without the use of spacer. I know ppl do spacer in the front, but that will led to the center bore not there to help hold the rim bore.
offset will be rim specific, as the spoke design will impact whether it clears the caliipers or not.
The 17x9 +35 fno1r-c's fit w/o spacers
The 17x9 +35 rpf1's do not clear calipers
... check with the manufacturer, likely need to be in the +35 or +30 or less, depending again on spoke design.
