What is the reason for packing on all the weight at the worst possible point on the car?

i prefer stock size wheels and tires.cars ride like shat with bigger heavier wheels not to mention that it feels slower with big wheel/tire combo. For strip i use cheapy drag wheels with drag radials.Im also looking to go smaller to 16x8 fd wheels for the strip.

17's are pretty common up through 265... and my issue is the close to $80/tire difference in cost from 17s to 18s, $320 a set difference... (Z1 star spec)

Always depends on individual application and requirements... 17x9s do well for me, I could consider 17x10s on the right offset though...

So you can run a widebody, besides who said they had to be heavier then stock + more tire more grip

I'll bite. Which 18x10.5 wheel weighs less than ~18lbs? Then, what about the weight of the tire?

+ more tire more grip
Where, when, and doing what?

A Time Attack

Well the RPF1s that are 18x10.5 are 19.7 pounds. Which is pretty *&%$ light for that size

Same as your first question, What ever I want, T/A, its called racing

OK, so they're not lighter than stock as you claimed. Add the weight of the tire necessary to take advantage of the width....

"What ever (sic) I want" hardly points to an optimized setup or an understanding of the dynamics at play. Is it my turn to roll my eyes?

Sacrificing rotational mass for looks just seems illogical to me. A set of 17X9's coupled with *specs is more than optimal for the op. I don't think most people need to go much wider than 9" anyways

I prefer the stock Evo X rims on the Evo VIII/IX's its an 18x8.5, can be had fairly cheap, doesn't rub anywhere on the car or suspension, tires are pretty available, good contact patch size based on the weight of the vehicle, and they look pretty good in my humble opinion.

18's if you need "the look" or you need to fit bigger brakes.

Width will depend on tire size, and tire size will depend on what you use your car for (hopefully).

17x8 (maybe 17x8.5) is the most fun in my opinion and looks plenty good with the right wheel.

Just my opinion.
