Best rim size for every use on evo 8/9

Using the wheels for everything, DD, Drag, Shop, Auto X and matbe a little RR too. Personally, I think that the 18x9.5 with a 265/35-18 is the best overall size (if you have coilovers).

Now if you don't have coilovers, 17x8.5 or 18x8.5 with a 245 width. Let me get you thoughts or feedback???

I totally agree, 18 x 9.5 with 265/35R18 is the way to go. I run custom powder coated matte black Prodrive Forged GC05-F's in an 18 x 9.5 +27 with 265/35R18 Dunlop star specs. This rim size is for a skyline GTR and works with a little fender rolling.

I have two sets of 18X9.5 but I am probably going to switch 17X9.5s for RTA sick of paying $850 every 6 months or less for tires.

for an all purpose wheel, the 17x9.5 is the all around best fit. not fender issues, doesnt require coils to have (like the 18x9.5). and importantly if you are truly using your car for all of the above then you will rip through tires rather quickly, and the price difference between 17 and 18 is substantial. 17s also weigh less so there is less unsprung weight. just a personal opinion...if I had the loot I would roll 18x9.5s on the daily and 17x9.5 (or 10s) on the track. depends on usage

How come stock size - 17x8 - isn't listed in the poll? Regardless, that's my pick.

I vote 17x9. I always figured that the 18x9.5's were easier to bend if you hit a pot hole. Is that true?

I vote for the 17 X 8 size also.

I'm running the +35mm, 17X8 Enkei RPF1 in Matte black. This wheel weighs 15.50 pounds. I mainly did this for the weight reduction while keeping the stock size and stock tires.

17s for sure, to save ongoing rubber cost as well as weight and tire options. I voted for the 9" width, as long as it isn't needed for winter duty. I think that is a very versatile size offering an aggressively wide tire, without having to start rolling/flaring all around, dependant on offset obviously, but after a load of research myself, 17x9 was my decision for daily driving summer, autox, and rr events.

Yup, same here - 15.5lb black RPF1s. Dropped some weight with the tires and the rotors, as well, for a total of ~40lbs. Reduced rotational mass is a beautiful thing.

Newer fno1r-c Hot Version 17x9 16.4lbs
Enkei RPF1's 17x9.. 15.9lbs...

I'll give up less than a pound for the added contact patch and width on this beast.

There's only one reason to go with a 18" wheel - a lower profile tire. Seeing how we can run a 40 profile on stock wheels, if needed, that reason is essentially moot. A 18" wheel usually weighs more, requires a heavier tire, and to what end?
