Sure uys, Ohlins are great units - I am having a set built for one of my own cars (custom order) they are also incredibly expensive, and not really the most streetable units on the planet. Not to mention the cost, whcih si about double the price of any coilover mentioned above. Complete overkill for what Diesel wants.

I also disagree with the JIC and Tein (which Tein BTW, there are several)?) feeling like ogosticks. the feel" of a coilover is so subjective it almost warrants no discussion. It is also tremendously impacted by installation, spring preload, dampending adjustment, tire choice, tire pressure, wheel choice, road conditions and other factors.

I cannot tell you how many times we have had a customer with JIC on a WRX come in and say how the ride was rough - meanwhile they have 18 inch wheels, 40 series tires, and tire pressure of 42-43 psi all around...well not sh%t your car feels rough! Themn, there are the guys who don't follow the install a isntructions and run huge amounts of preload on the spring, then wonder why the dampening adjustments have little effect.....

Like anything else, setup is the key. We have used all the major coilovers at this point, and I like ones more than others for different uses.

Which of these coilovers actually have good shocks. I feel the car stock now rides like a pogo stick on sharp bumps and road imperfections.... feels like the stock shocks have too much high speed compression valving dialed in...

Do they make koni/moton/jrz shocks/bilstein/boge for our cars yet? I heard the evolution MR edition has bilsteins which are probably awesome, granted they are valved properly.

I would think the Ohlins would ride great based on the motorcycle stuff... but then again so does showa...

It's all in the valving...

Hey dude I take back what I said about the jic, matt at willow springs had rre jic's and rich and mark drove it and basically creamed themselves it was that good so try those first. The rre comes with different better spring rates than jic ships them with.

How was the ride with the rre jic's compared to stock? Did it hit bumps hard?

What is preload? and how do you prevent over preload?

My JICs were shipped on Monday from RRE. I'll take some pics n' **** when I get them. I forgot to ask them if they use different spring rates... John @ RRE was the one who pre-set them.

FLTA-2s use 450 lbs/in. front and 393 lbs/in. rear on the Evo 8, if that is what you ordered.

I believe that RRE uses different rates than the 10K/F 9K/R rates that the JICs usually come with. I'm really interested in hearing how yours tun out. From what I understand, the RRE set-up is supposed to be top notch.

Does anyone know RRE's spring rates? It seems people are all over the place for road race spring rates. Any personal experiences?

Thanks

Lightbulb FLTA2 RS

Has anyone inquired about the JIC FLTA2-RS? Customized spring rates but are they revalved for more aggressive driving?

Anyone know the cost on those?

Why doesn't RRE use the RSs? Is it because they have more experience with the regular FLTA2s or because that's just what their customers request?
